Question about Zanussi IZ12 Front Load Washer

Zanussi IZ 12 pump access

I have a Zanussi IZ 12 that appears to have a pump problem. I can hear the pump working but with a grinding sound, and water isn’t being pumped from the machine. I believe the pump to be at the front of the machine close to the filter. That being the case, can anyone assist with the front cover removal to gain access? Thanks Paul C for the info on the sneaky ones, I wondered about those.

You should not need to remove anything to check and clean pump filter.
Open the filter door at the bottom right front of washer, there you will see the pump filter cover, unscrew the filter anti-clockwise, and remove the filter, and clean same.
With the filter out, you will see the filter housing, which is fastened directly on to the pump, have a good look inside the housing, and see if anything is stuck in there.
Refit filter, and test.
Please rate my fixya solution.
Thanks.

Is the alan screw that holds the pully for drum on zanussi iz 12 right hand or left hand tread?

Have a look at the beginning of the tread, and it will become obvious that it is left or right hand.

My washer is making a grinding noise during spin cycle and it smells like burnt rubbert

The grinding you hear is from the drain pump. I have replaced around 60 this year alone. There is a insert that works its way down around the pulley on the pump and restricts the pump. The burning rubber is from the belt trying to turn the pump but cannot. Here is a link to the part you need. You can gain access to the pump by removing the four screws on the rear bottom left side of the washer. You will need to remove the belt before you remove the pump.

Grinding sound - drum turns then nothing - just grinding sound until E20 warning.

Hello,
Can you turn the drum by hand.E20 relates to a fault with either the pump or the filter or drain may be blocked, check the filter is clean and the pump can be turned by hand, its up at the end of filter housing and can be seen depending on the model. If the drum cant be turned freely then you have something stuck inside the drum.

Hope this was helpful.

Whirlpool Duet Washer Making Loud Grinding Noise

not nesseccarrily your pump, possible you have a rear bearing going bad, which will sound as if a helicopter is coming through your laundry room. ( noisy pump can be the issue , honestly a better and cheapre problem to have) in order to determine if its apump problem you can remove the lower access panel and unplug the pump then start the spinn cycle, if it still loud the pumpms not hte issue.

possibly a foreign object in pump.
tilt backwards at a good angle and remove pump. i find the easiest way to do this is to undo the 3 screws round the periphery of the pump

Zanussi IZ 12

I've just spent an hour taking mine to bits. On the back there are 2 x 9mm silver nuts at the bottom, below the star head screws you removed to get the top off. Then there are two more sneaky ones at the bottom of each side panel, just next to the gap about half way along on both sides., with a plastic cover hiding them from view. Make sure you release the mains cable holder from the top of the back by pressing the plastic clips down, then the whole shebang should slide off easily.
