Bad picture hello. i just bought this tv for a great deal for 200$ the guy sold it to me cuz he said the picture was too dark.. but i know you can change contaminated fluid... if i wanted to do this how would i go about doing it and where do i buy the fluid from? also is there any other solution that might be used to solve this problem? maybe it isn't the fluid... do you think it could be something else? thanks for your time, daniel reed

Re: bad picture

A company called mcm sells the fluid. I don't know the answers to your other problems but you can buy the fluid online. It will take 3 bottles of the fluid from mcm to fill all 3 guns.

Re: bad picture

The problem is that doing it yourself will be hard for 3 reasons. 1 - no body is likely to sell you the fluid and, 2 - you have to remove 3 ground wires, two connectors and the crt power lead,4 bolts, thoroughly clean the old reservoir with rubbing alcohol and undo the clamps , place the gaskets right and refill, refit the clamps, etc. 3 - if you don't do it right it might leak right on to the high voltage circuit and pop goes the whole TV. And even after all this , your convervance may be a problem. Also maybe it's not the fluid. I did it and it worked great , but it was not easy and unless you have a good idea of what you are trying to achieve and have the time and careful hands to do it - leave it to a pro.

6039 keeps blowing projection bulb

Not sure how long you have had this unit. If it is still under warranty your first call should be to the dealer who sold the unit. It may be part of a bad batch. The dealer should take responsibility for replacing the unit or contacting the manufacturer/distributor. Don't let them tell you it's not their problem. They sold you the item your contract is with them. They bought it from the distributor so they deal with them and the distributor deals with the manufacturer so they deal with them.

Are you maintaining the unit correctly? The filters need to be cleaned regularly, especially in a home environment where a lot of dust can clog the vents causing the unit to overheat.

Plenty of airflow is needed to keep the bulb cool so this is vital.

Cheap bulbs will not last as long as original parts but they should still have a 'rated hours value' under normal use.

should have unplugged it when you noticed the smell.

UNPLUG and remove and look at lamp you installed--is something in the housing where lamp goes melted? I hope you did not touch the face of the bulb with your hand or fingers.

What ever is wrong find it before trying to use set again.

Line at bottom of screen takes time to clear

if the line is horizontal and kind of rolls up the picture, or you get a dark picture at first, its probably a bad capacitor. there are 2 - 100uf 16v caps that go bad c2p05 and c2p08 on the signal board

if the picture just shrinks, it can be these caps bad, or maybe your pump up cap on the vertical IC

all parts are solder in

estimate = 100-200$

Hello, i have a panasonic 50" dlp tv and the picture is really dark....i bought the tv back in 2003....any suggestions...

The light engine bulb might be bad or going bad. Check it first. Then check its power source. These are you two most likely problems. I would suggest you having a TV technician perform this task.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
