I can't connect to the default ip address 192.168.1.1 or even 192.168.1.10 of my Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router Model: WRT54GS using the web browser for me to access set up? what will i do? please...

Hello
Reset the router.
1 power down pc and unplug all cables from router including power.
2 Find small reset button inback of router, use a pen tip or paperclip to hold in this button for 30 seconds.
3 Plug power cable back into router.
4 When light is on plug other cables back in.
5 Restart pc.
This should allow you to use 192.168.1.1

Also you can go to start then run in windows and type cmd then hit enter
Once box pops up type in ipconfig then hit enter.
This will show you a list of numbers, look for the one that says ip address, use it to log onto router.

Power light blinking, operating system windows xp does not support set up wizard

Linksys reset

This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password "admin", in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to "admin" on some of the newer Linksys router models).

You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Lost CD

To get my connection to work, I had to configure my Netopia DSL modem for Bridged Mode and let my router take care of the routing and address assignment. I would also try to get a working connection before configuring security. You can always do that later. You have the order of powering up you equipment correct. Read this link. It works for me.

Need cd or software for Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

Software for this product is really not needed unless you want to reset or upgrade the nvrom of the router. To access it you should first reset it to factory default (unplug router from all cables and power, hold in reset pin with a small object, then plug in power cord, wait 30 seconds then release the reset, wait 30 more seconds then unplug power).
Next reconnect all cables and restart the router. (wait 2 min.)
Set your computer's network card to dhcp and start your computer.
To log into the router open a browser window and enter:
http://192.168.1.1 (don't forget the http://)
An access screen will pop up:

User: admin
Password:admin

Good Luck and have a great day...

Router not hooked up properly

Router setup
If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem.

Help connecting Cable Internet through D-Link DI-514 Router

what may be happening is the wireless pc as it was; needs the dns and ip address flushing, also the pc you connected the router to as you must have conflicting ip addreses Click start run then type ipconfig /flushdns. You should ensure that the router is set to enable DHCP to assign ip addreses and make sure your'e network cards on all pc's are set to obtain ip address automaticaly in the TCP/IP properties. Restart the pcs and type 192.168.0.1 in your web browser and get into your router setings and check in the DHCP section that all pc's have been given an ip address. If all fails you may need to reset the router
