You are correct..... I see the blue screen after it trys to boot. I go to safe mode and it still gives me the blue screen. It comes on so fast I can not read it.

Again you are correct....... The blue screen flashes on and off so quickly it took me 45 minutes just to write down what it said. It doesn't mention AVAST specifically. What it says is "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error, then restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps. Disable or uninstall any antivirus, disk defragmentor, or back up utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. By typing in Run CHKDSK / F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer. " But I can't even get the computer to start up in Safe Mode. It just keeps going to the blue screen and restarting back as if you have turned the power off. I have tried safemode safemode with command prompts and I keep getting the same result ( wich technicaly is no result). So I am hoping maybe a PC specialist can understand and fix the problem. And I do not have a backup CD for the simple fact the laptop did not come with a CD or DVD ROM. If anyone can help more I would greatly appreciate it.......

I am having problems with my acer one notebook. I had a mp3 hooked up to it and my 4 year old shut the computer off. Now it just won't start up goes to the menu of starting it in safe mode and all that but when i try starting it in safe mode the "blue screen" comes on and goes off just as fast. I've tried F8 but it doesnt work either. I just bought the computer not even a month ago . . :( It says something about a software change and i tried reinstalling window vista but to no avail. . .

What's the 1st thing you see when you try booting? it should be black with white words detailing your boot cycle. if youre not seeing this, its hardware.

hopefully your blue screen comes later, which means it's more likely software as windows is trying to load. I assume this is what it is since you see an avast error.

i think F8 is safe mode-- are you sure you're pressing F8 every second or two as it boots to get into safe mode?

what did you do right before this started happening to you?

yeah, the 1st thing is to get control so we can fix the problem. if safe mode has the same blue screen as regular boot, youre in a little bit of trouble, which youve sadly noticed... it's bad feeling i know. if you cant get into the opertating system to uninstall avast (which im assuming is your main or only problem at this point since you mentioned that as the error), you need to reinstall windows which will get rid of avast, but you need to be knowledgable on how you avoid deleting your files, or do a "repair", which may or may not solve the avast problem.

important tools at this point would be 1) a windows install disk 2) a winodws boot utility disk so you can boot to a CD, and do some operations on your computer like create a second data partition, then move your important data there from your "my documents" and "my pictures"-type folders which will be OVERWRITTEN if you reinstall windows...

it's not that easy if youre a beginner...i wish it was

i could tell you more but i dont know if youre ready for surgery :-)

so basically, you can not boot into your windows at all, right? ( there are reports that avast causus a blue screen when it runs a scan in windows, but that's when you're already running windows, and it's solved by updated avast, but you cant even get in at this point to start anything, I take it)

I could do more, but then youd have to mail me your computer! :-)

at this point, you need someone in front of it, unfortunately. I went on avast because that's what you mentioned. You'll either need to reinstall windows completely or at least repair it unsing an install disk, as it's either serious software corruption (fixable) or possibly hardware failure... sorry, i'd have to be there to tackle it more closely... good luck! maybe call your 3 computer places locally and see what their rates are? or maybe call your local community college or high school to get a couple of techie guys to give you a hand.

My computer give me a blue screen and give an error report c000021a

A blue screen is often caused by conflicting devices or corrupted software or even faulty devices in your system. Try doing a system recovery by booting in safe mode. If this is not possible you will need your Windows software to do a system repair by booting with your Windows CD.
Also try replacing or swapping RAM memory around as this often causes a blue screen if faulty or not seated properly in its slot.

Only get a blank blue screen when I turn on PC. All seems dead!

Try booting into Safe Mode. You can do this by rebooting your computer. As soon as it turns on, you should see some kind of splash screen or logo like "Acer" or "Dell". When you see this, start tapping the F8 key about twice each second. Hopefully, you'll get the Boot menu for Windows. Select "Safe mode" from the list and see if it boots properly. If it does, then you have a software issue like a virus, bad drivers, or faulty software installed. If it won't boot into Safe Mode, you may have a compromised operating system or failing hard drive. Give that a try and see what happens.

Windows won't load

Try booting to "Safe Mode" (tapping the "F8" key on boot), or however you can get to your Desktop, click start, right click "My Computer", select "Properties", then "Advanced" tab, then click the "Settings" button under "Startup and Recovery", then uncheck "Automatically restart" under "System Failure", click "OK" then "OK" again and restart your PC.

That should allow you to run without the instant restarting on BSOD, so you can repair/remove Mcafee.

Zd8000 wont boot up

try to get into SAFE mode... tap F8 repeatedly when you first power on. You should get a safe mode boot menu, select last known good profile and press enter.

If this does not work reboot go into SAFE mode and select Safe Mode from menu and see if it will boot up.

You may get a pop up to use system restore, say yes, select restore to an earlier date (or similar) then use the calander to select a restore date that is PRIOR to the problem starting.

If this does not work boot to safe mode again and say NO (cancel) to use system restore and see if you can get to the desktop
