First you need you 10 or 13 digit serial number. The go to the Gateway site that I leined below and find the Ethernet driver,if it has on, and download it.     Make sure that your ethernet is turned on in the BIOS setup screen. Directions to get into the screen are in you manual.(Usually F8 when starting) If you no longer have the manual, download one from the same support website linked below:

2. Below is a link to page for buying restore-disk for gateway

3. On this page you need to be a member if you want that driver. The problem today is that we all have to pay for every driver when we need them for our computers and stuff.

if none of this will work the best thing is to maybe install windows xp instead.

Good Luck and

From a computer that has internet access, download the appropriate ethernet driver for your network card from the link above. As for the recovery disk, you'll have to contact Gateway for a replacement disk.

How to get Recovery Discs for refurbished Gateway MT3705

If the computer has the same version of xp on it that the disk has,Just restart in safe mode,Select safe mode with command prompt,When it get to the command prompt,Put the xp disk in and type
SFC /scannow
This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

Windows XP keeps a cache (copy) of these essential files at the following location:
C:WINDOWS\System32\Dllcache

But it still may ask for the disk.

Please rate this a fixya

Xp drivers

its a bit tricky to do that, you would probably need to open up the laptop to see what hardware your computer is using. However, if you go to the start menu, then you can right click on my computer, select "manage", go to device manager and look up the device name for each thing and go to the manufacturers websites and download the drivers from their sites. You may be able to get drivers from an older version of the hardware to work with your computer too. Hope this helps.
