I have a POULAN PRO 3516AVX chainsaw that I have to tighten the chain after every cut . What gives?

If the chain is stretching then it is either poor quaility chain, or there is not enough oil getting to the chain, it is impotant to use a non fling chain oil so as to lubricate the bottom of the bar where most cutting is done. hold the tip of the bar close to a clean peice of card board, rev the saw, there should be a good line of oil showing on the card board.

I just bought a new Poulan Model P3416 chaisaw (34cc) and I have followed the starting instructions and have not been able to start the saw. I have even varied the instructions but no luck. Any thoughts...

see if your switch is in run position and then pull your spark plug out see if it is wet, then see if it is sparking when you ground it and pull cord to roll over, if all is good hold throttle wide open and crank over without choke on, probably flooded, good luck

Engine starts, runs, chain goes around, but cuts very weak, leaving black marks on the wood from rubbing but not cutting

You have a dull chain. Check out the video below to learn how to hand sharpen the chain:

The saw is a poulan 3416 ,2 yr old, purchased new. the problem is starts ok 6 primer pushes idles ok then will either die after first cut or as soon as you pull trigger

Run too lean, this is fuel starvation, remove the fuel line from the tank and replace the filter on the end, check the fuel hose from the tank up to the carb for leaking or cracking.

Starts fine but just as I start to cut the wood it bogs downs and sounds like it is flooding out. I can back it off, rev it up and the same thing all over again.

It is unusual for a machine to richen up when it starts cutting, chainsaws normally run a little rich free running, when they start cutting they need the extra fuel to keep it going under load, it is much more likly it is running too lean, start by cleaning the air filter, if there is a spark arrestor in the muffler take it out and clean it ( a gauze in the exhaust outlet ) pull the fuel filter out of the tank and replace the filter on the end, failing this it may well be a carb adjustment required, there is a special tool required to adjust many of these carbs ( the screws are splined ) this will require a workshop adjustment, or making a tool to fit over the screws so as to turn them, try using a short peice of tube that fits tight over the screw, push a suitable screw driver in the end od the tube to allow you to turn the screw, turn the H and the L screw out 1/2 turn on each , has this improved the running, if so it is running lean.

My Poulan 3500 chain saw will not start

My guess is that one of your fuel lines has a crack or small hole in it. Inspect these and replace if needed. let me know how it goes.
