SOURCE: CAN A 2WIRE DSL ROUTER WORK WITH A CABLE INTERNET CONEECTION

The 2wire dsl modem/router cannot be use with a another cable modem , since this 2wire device is also a modem/router and its made for the DSL conenction that's why it wont work with Cox cable, the best thing that you can do is to ask Cox to give a wireless modem/router like this 2wire so you can still use the wireless connection of your computer..

Hope that helps..........

SOURCE: Can I use 2WIRE 2701HG-B router in COX internet connection

No. A router has 2 main interface types WAN (for the internet connection side, and LAN (for the home network side) the 'LAN' side often has up to 4 ports and wireless connectivity for the home network.

The most common routers available at electronics retail use a CAT-5 connection for the WAN ports and the LAN ports. Your DSL modem/router uses a phone line input for it's WAN port, which uses a signal type that is incompatible with the cable modem output.

If COX doesn't offer a router with the cable modem package, you can go and purchase and common brand of home networking router, and attach it to the output of the cable modem.

SOURCE: 2wire Wireless router not working w/Comcast cable modem

Its almost impossible to connect a 2wire DSL router with a Cable modem. They dont go hand in hand.
Although you can connect the outgoing ethernet wire from the modem in the last ethernet plug on the back of the router and then have the ethernet connections coming from the router. But not wireless. and if you find a way, contact me at [email protected]

I have a 2wire modem from att. i made a 50 foot eathernet cord, i have a eathernet transmitter teaster to test the cable to see if it is good (and it is) but i still cant get internet on the other side of...

Try with a shorter enet cable and see if you get internet, if you are able to get internet with a shorter cable then the cable might not be working fine. Else get a wireless card installed on your computer since the 2wire modem has wireless connectivity. It would be more easy and convenient to connect to wireless using the 2 wire modem.

If the Internet light is off then there is a problem with the phone line to the ADSL modem or the modem is faulty or there is a problem at the telephome exchange.
Disconnect the phone cable at the ADSL modem and connect a phone handset to this cable - check for a dial tone and that you can dial out.
If you don't get a dial tone, use a different or new phone cable.
If the phone line is OK then : -
Ring your ISP to get them to test your connection to your ADSL
modem.

Need help connecting a 2wire usb adaptor without the software

You need the drivers. An oversimlified analogy of what a driver is - drivers are what the computer uses to translate the language the devices speaks into a language the computer can understand. It allows the two to talk to each other.
You should be able to download the drivers for this device at http://support.2wire.com/index.php?page=download
The manufacturer for any device that you connect to your computer should have the drivers necessary to install it on their website. If the device you are trying to install is a network device (wireless or wired) and you are unable to access the internet, the best suggestion I have is to borrow a friends computer and a USB key/drive or have them burn a CD with the drivers on it for you.

Modem router advise

Have you checked your wireless settings in the router?

The default power setting is 4, you can try setting it to the highest, 10.

Also set the channel to 4,5,6,7, or 8. those have the highest output.
