Question about Whirlpool GD2SHGX Refrigerator

Water spout replacement

Hi Solution Guy,
I have a 1998 Whirlpool model #ED22RFXF800 refrigerator and need to replace the water spout. I hope you can help me out because I have no idea how to start.

I have the replacement water spout attached to a black hose. I'm wondering if there's a way we can just pull the spout out of the refrigerator, pull the new spout out of the black hose and just replace that piece on to the hose in the refrigerator. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your suggestions. The other day when I posed the question, I looked at some of the answers listed and went with the suggestion to screw in a screw on the existing tube, then screw in the screw on the tube needing to be added. We then pulled the old hose out while pulling in the new tube through the water spout area. This worked perfectly. It took us longer to get a screw, cut off the head than it did for us to pull the old tube out while pulling the new tube in...probably a total of about 10 minutes.

This is a surprisingly easy repair that you can do in about 30 minutes.

  • first remove dispenser cover: there are 2 slots on the very bottom of the cover insert flat tip screwdriver and carefully pry it off. then you should be able to disconnect a wiring harness and lay the cover to the side.
  • next move switch console out of your way: you will either have 2 screws or 2 thumb latches on either side. you may need someone to hold this out of your way for the following steps.
  • we need to disconnect the incoming water line down at the bottom hinge: remove kickplate and find the water line you should find a connector. while pushing the tube into the connect push down on the collar then pull the tube out of the connector.( you will most likely get a little bit of water when the tube pulls loose.
  • back at the dispenser: find where the tube comes out and remove any retaining screws, then gently pull the entire tube up and out of the door.
  • now do everything in reverse to finish up: the tube will push abck thru. when you get back to the hinge the tube may hange up I use a very small screw driver to line the tube up to come back thru the hinge.
  • whne you reconnect the tube at the grille make sure that the tubing seats all the way to prevent any leakage
Be surre and be safe by unpluggin the unit before you perf any type of repair water and electricity dont mix. good luck Peyton

The water supply line to the ice maker on my Whirlpool side by side refrigerator is visibly frozen, and will not supply water to the ice maker. How do I fix this?

With the information given , I would say to pull fridge out from wall , and remove the 2 screws holding the spout . Pull the spout out and defrost with warm water . Reinstall the spout and replace the water inlet valve . Valve had to have a slow leak for the tube to freeze . A model number would have helped to give a more precise answer .

Stopped making ice eventhough everything is in its normal operating state.

Things to check first:
-is there water going into the icemaker (does your fridge produce water from the cold water spout ?)
-if not, then check the water line going to it
-if so then time to consider replacing the ice maker (very easy)

If you've had it a while then I'd replace it (they are easy to replace). Take a look at:

(I've ordered from them before - actually an icemaker that is running nicely 2yrs later)

Ice maker OK but water will not work? Whirlpool Estate TS25AF

hmmm, the only really way you will know if your water valve is working for the door is to jump it direct. unplug the machine get the valve out un do the line that goes to the door to the valve put a glass under the valve and jump it... if water then you have a door/control board issue.... no water than u need to replace water valve.
