First of all thanks worldvet for providing me so much information. Boss u want a clarification for BIOS enable. I want to say that personally i have enable it in Bios setup but whenever it reboots, disables the card automatically.
just to clarify, if you could. In your solution you told that in new models of Dell Latitude D600, network card chips are planting on Main boards. Tell me what ll be the status of Mine, ll it be a miniPCI card or chip on board. Kindly if you have anyother solution without opening the bottom of laptop. Take it as last option.
Secondly, I have also tried Add New Hardware, all the options goes fail.
Thanks again for reponding. waiting again for effective solution.

Have you clicked on Add New Hardware and then check for hardware changes?

If the installer has been instructed to ignore the new hardware once, it will forever after.

Let me know and I can take you to the next step.

The Dell D600 is a very successfull model of laptop and I'm using one right now, but mine was built in 2001.

Eventually, Dell and other companies started planting the network card ship on the main board. Prior to that, it was inserted into a miniPCI slot that is accesible from the bottom of the laptop. The access panel is fairly large on these versions of the D600. The slot cover is in the center back and is where you will and would expect to find access to the Ram Modules, CPU Fan and CPU. the miniPCI slot is farily noticiable if you have one.

Just to clarify, if you would. In your original question you stated that the network card was enabled in the Bios. Was that incorrect then? It would help to understand the problem.

A solution then, would be to remove the miniPCI card, carefully and by reading over the how-to at Dell so you don't damage anything accidentaly. Remove power and the battery both before doing this. Once it is out, reattach the cover. Re-insert the battery and reattach power boot up normally and once the Desktop is stable perform a normal shut down. Then you can follow the same proceedure above to re-insert the miniPCI card and reboot. One this return to the desktop you should but only maybe will you get a add new hardware wizard.

If you go to Dell online and enter your Service Tag, you can look up drivers for your laptop. I would download the latest driver for your NIC in advance of this procedure so that when and if Windows discovers your NIC again, you will have the driver to point Windows to. Otherwise, try to force the onboard NIC to an on status in teh Bios and then install the Service Pack driver from Dell.

If all this fails, then you need to repalce the NIC if you have the miniPCI with a NIC installed first of all. After that, you can put any NIC you can find on Ebay in there that comes with a DOA warranty. Just look at the available drivers for the D600 first and then get a NIC that Dell has drivers for, otherwise its a wild chance it will work for you.

    Good Luck,
    Worldvet

BTW, ask away if you have any other questions.

I have solved the issue by following the instruvtions of worldvet with the NIC unplugged I installed the latest drivers provided by cornyn, now everything works fine again.

The problem came into place when updateing Windows XP to SP3 with all other patches, so I assume there was a wrong dll or something.

I also installed all other drivers updates from dell including BIOS to avoid this behaviour in the future,

I'm going to make an assumption that you are using Windows XP or 2000.

You'll need to acquire the hardware driver Windows cannot automatically supply a compatible driver.

A link to the driver can be found here.

How do I upload pictures onto my Dell d600

If your photos are stored on a SD memory card then remove the SD memory card from the camera and insert the memory card into an USB memory card reader. Connect the USB memory card reader into the USB port of your Dell computer. The Dell wiil detect the card reader as an external storage device, you can then open the folder on the memory card that contains the photos and then copy them to your computer.

Hi there!

The main problem which is causing your Warcraft Dota to lag is your video card size is too small,

Dota requires at least 256 mb size.

Hope this helps!

Have you run the Dell Diagnostics test? reboot the computer and hit the F12 key, scroll down to the diagnostic option and run the test, it will check hardware and memory etc.

Inetwork card

Here is the link to the DELL drivers for your unit. I am unaware of what network card you have in your unit and therefore can not point you to the proper driver. However, once you know the network card you have, you can go here and download the appropriate driver for your unit.
