Question about Honeywell Water Heaters

1 Answer

Honeywell T403A1174 suddenly doesn't appear to call for heat

It is on a basic Glow Worm boiler with a Master Mind programmer, the hot water side works fine but the thermostat controlling the central heating has failed. The contacts inside had stuck together, I have freed them but, I can't get it to work at all.

I have since found that the thermostat is working but, for some reason, possibly because a bridge is missing in the programmer wiring, that the boiler will only work with the HW on. It seems to work OK with the HW on so, possibly a wiring problem after all.

Some times inside the boiler on the internal pipework you will see little sensors, on the central heating piping there sometimes is a thermastic sensor on side of flow pipe with a little reset button on ? i guess with the problem you said the poiler locked out and the pipe work overheated ? this is a safety feature on some boilers not, all and easerly reset via this button ?

Glow worm 45-60 standing boiler making banging noises when in operation

The noise you refer to is called Kettling, it is caused by the hot water in your boiler not being able to leave the boiler quick enough, if the problem developed quickly and your system is a "fully pumped " system this would generally point to your pump either has failed or is on its way out, i.e . your radiators would not heat up as the hot water is stuck in the boiler hence the banging......( if you know where the pump is you can generally feel if it is running by a small vibration ) if you have gravity hot water and pumped heating circuit then I would assume that it is noisy when just doing HW, and the banging is a problem that has gradually got worse it can indicate that the boiler is scaling up (are you in a hard water area). if this is correct there are various additives that can be put in the system to help quieten it down, I suggest you really need a heating engineer to diagnose fully.

I have a Heatslave 12/14 oil-fired combi boiler installed approx 8 years ago. A problem has just developed on the domestic hot water side. My local heating engineer has investigated but so far hasn't...

Symptoms sound like crossover might be part of problem:
Crossover is when cold water enters hot water line due to faulty plumbing part like check valve, mixing valve, or bad faucet cartridge.

I've got a pressure problem on my glow worm 35ci combi boiler

check to see if you have a mid position valve or a 3 way valve
the mid position will give hot primary supply to both your hot water cylinder and your heating circuit if both stats are asking for heat.
you cant really get spares for these type of valves you are probably better off changing it if it is causing problems.

The hot water and central heating wont work together

what size of gas line is going into boiler and water heater? is it black iron ? natural gas or propane? have you checked gas pressure at water heater and furnace ? if they work fine individually then you have a problem with incoming gas pressure. Call gas company and ask them if they would come out and check gas pressure.
