Electrolux dishwasher overflows

Two things to consider....clean water or dirty water?

Clean water usually indicates the fill valve is not shutting off all the way and the fill valve is "weeping" water in all the time = new fill valve time!!

Dirty water usually is not a dishwasher problem but more of a plumbing issue. Often the sink drain that carries the sinks water outside is not fast enough and some of this sink water is backing up into the drain hose and filling up the dishwasher through the drain hose. The drain from the sink to outside needs attention as this type of a problem indicates a slow house drain for that sink.

The dishwasher drain line should be clamped to the top underneath part of the counter before entering the sink drain plumbing, this may help the water from coming back inside the dishwasher.

Our Bosch dishwasher has water filling back in bottom of dishwasher after cycle is complete. You can empty dishwasher and no water will be in the bottom, but several hours later the water has filled the...

Check the drain line underneath the sink.
It should be suspended just below the counter top.
If it is too low, water from the sink will back fill into the dishwasher.
If the drain is OK,then the dishwasher water valve is defective.

There is water left in the dishwasher and the smell comes up through the drain

Look under the sink where the dishwasher drain line connects to the waste pipe outlet. The dishwasher connecting hose should be supported higher than the outlet connection. If the dw drain hose is too low the sink drain water is backing into the dishwasher.

GE Triton won't drain completely

Hi Tina! (say Hi to the Family, too)

Your drain hose from the dishwasher (DW) was installed incorrectly after the DW was moved back into place. Good news!!! Easy fix. All it takes is a 5/16" nut driver (or socket) and some vinyl electrical tape.

Look under the sink, you'll see the white drain hose hooked up to (most likely) your disposal. You'll notice that it just kinda slopes downhill 'til it disappears through the cabinet, right? Well, the slope in question is actually the culprit! It's siphoning water from your sink and down into the DW. Everytime you run water in the sink, some of it goes over to your DW instead of down the drain. Go figure, right?

Here's the fix... You have to re-route your drain line to make it have an upside down "J" in it before it connects to the disposal.

Use your 5/16 and loosen the clamp at the disposal and remove the hose. Pull on the hose to get as much slack as you can from the DW and into where you're working. Now route the hose between the sinks (the recessed area there underneath) and THEN into the disposal. Now tighten the hose clamp to secure the hose to the disposal. For extra measure, use your tape to secure the hose to a water line in the back by the water valves.

Seriously easy job, Tina and Family. Maybe 15 minutes.

Fisher & Paykel Dishwasher leaked

From what you describe, drain water from the top drawer is getting into the bottom drawer or waste water from the disposer is backing up into the bottom drawer.

1. Each drawer has its own drain hose. Each hose should terminate at the drain point with a 'Y' adapter.
2. Inspect the drain point (under the sink where the drain pipes are) to make sure this 'Y' adapter is present. (you should see two drain hoses from the DW). If not present, then the DW drain lines are not installed properly. (Someone took a shortcut and installed the 'Y' adapter behind the DW)
3. If terminated properly, make sure the drain hoses extend upward as they leave the drain point.

It is important the drain lines are connected properly to ensure proper drainage from the DW. Consult the installation manual for complete details.

Dishwasher issue

Have had this problem twice on my DWI614. First time engineer came out and I watched what he did and asked questions. He removed panel at bottom of dishwasher (2 screws) after removing facia panel from kitchen as it is a built in dishwasher. To the right is the drain pump. Remove 1 retaining screw and hose retaining clip. Ease out the drain pump and make sure to have some cloth beneath as residual water will flush out. Before I did this the second time I removed as much water from inside with a small cup first. Both times I had blockages in the drain pump. First was a piece of glass and second some food. I also pulled the drain pipe forward and blew through to make sure path to sink was clear. Clear out and reassemble. Start a simple program before putting the front back panel back on and you can touch the drain opump and feel it working as the water drains properly. That was my fix both times, good luck.
