Silly question, but are you subscribed to the HD channels? Most cable companies include HD channels o higher tier subscriptions, and then require a different decoder box to get them.
Try vith headphones or audio out on the scart .
Try with audio standard in menu options.
try with signal on scart or hdmi input with other source of signal like dvd or cabel recivers.
If there are no sound after this you have to check-replace the audio section in your tv.
you must read carefully your owner manual, and proceed with the instruction for to see if this possible. If you do not have the instr. manual go to www.fitness.manualsonline.com and download free.
You should not have had to choose cable or air. When you have satellite it is considered the same thing as cable. Air is over the air rabbit ears antenna free programming. When you are connecting a satellite receiver you only have to turn to channel 3 or pick the correct av, component or hdmi input. Oh you must be connecting more than one television to the same satellite receiver. When that is the case tv #2 usually has to be set on a different channel and the satellite tv company tells you which channel. You still use the satellite remote to change channels and leave this television on one channel at all times. This television is good enough for its own hd satellite receiver connected with component cables or an hdmi cable though in order for you to see its full potential for displaying hd programs.
Check this link to download the user's guide or quick setup guide. Press menu > channel, go down to TV source change it to cable and go down to auto scan and press > to start programing the channels into the LCD memory.

It was not a problem. It is just a question. Is it HD ready or not without a converter box or cable?
I will go to a store and ask a tech if you can not answer.
