    Hi,

    A problem with the raid drive is that it might have died. If this has happened I would suggest installing a new drive and install the old raid as a secondary and run a recovery program. Also if you wish take it to a computer store and see if they will be able to recover any needed files.

    Did you install a RAID setup on this system? If you did and it failed then you won't be able to get your data off your hard drive(s).

If it is ME or XP, tap the f8 key rapidly as you boot and it should go into safe mode. You can do a restore from there.

I entered my restore disk after receiving message on hard drive on the dimension 9150. Got message

Hmmm, what concerns me is that your system BIOS is not discovering any of your SATA Drives, That sounds like an Issue in your motherboard not your OS. I would go into your BIOS settings and look for a link that says reset bios to factory defaults, then try and boot again without the recovery disk. Please keep me posted on what happened if this does not we will trouble shoot more.

I want to restore my dell dimension 9150 to factory settings can u help

If you were using Windows Xp just press Ctrl + F11 when you turn on your computer.

Press F8 if you were using Windows Vista then select repair your computer from the list.

Then if you have any disk or any Operating System disk insert the disk then boot from CD and follow the on screen instructions.

Hope it helps you....:)

RAID-1 failure on Dell Dimension 9100 Desktop

Since you are using RAID 1 (Mirroring) you will only need to send one drive for data recovery.
Since the Dimension 9100 uses SATA HDDs yes you can increase the storage capacity up to a matched pair of 650GB drives. I'd suggest you use the most current BIOS revision, but SATA controllers seem to be much more agreeable to large HDDs vs the EIDE ones before them.
RAID is redundancy, but it is not a data backup, as you have learned. Important data should be backed up to DVDs monthly/quarterly etc. and you can even do critical backups weekly.

Dell 9150

This system has onboard RAID, sometimes it is simply because the RAID controller is in error, to get it out of error:

* Disconnect the power cable
* Hold power button for 15 seconds
* Release the power button
* Plug in power cable
* Start the computer

If this does not work, please provide information, is is Windows XP or Vista?

GX520 error

To resolve this issue, consider the following steps:
  1. Boot up the computer with a Microsoft Windows 98 boot up disk or Windows XP recovery console. Select the correct bootup device before you do that.
  2. At the DOS command prompt, type in: fdisk
  3. Now, you will be prompted with the following question

    • Do you wish to enlarge large disk support (Y/N) ?
  4. Enter: Y
  5. Now to check for active partition, enter: 2

    Look under the Status column. The active partition is usually assigned to the drive which contains your operating system.
  6. If there's no active partition set, enter the number of the partition to make active

    Restart your computer and the problem should be resolved.
I hope this is what you are lookin for..I am still tryin to build my profile so ratings especially the good ones really help

Raid failure

Not a lot of details, but here is some basic information, assuming you have a Dell with Integrated RAID

Dimension 9150/9200 and XPS systems have RAID, depending on the model the exact troubleshooting differs. At boot, after the Dell screen, you should get the RAID status listing. RAID 0 will either be normal or failed. Raid 1 can be normal, degraded for failed.

If the RAID array was RAID 0 and one of the drives failed, then all data is lost and you'll have to create a new array then reinstall Windows and drivers

If the RAID array was RAID 1, then you may need to add the new drive to the Array, CNTL+I or CNTL+N at boot (Depending on the system model) add the new drive to the array and reboot. If the system still will not boot to Windows, then you may have a software error too with the OS.

If during troubleshooting, the array was broken in the RAID BIOS, then the array will need to be recreated and Windows/Drivers reinstalled.
