Just go into the setting on the tv and change the video input,It maybe set to hdmi and you may need it on analog.(you can look at the manual for the settings

Let me know if you still need assistance

I get sound but no picture when playing a DVD

You only need the patch cord hooked up, For it to work,Not both.Allso you have to set your tv to the right in put to get a picture. If your DVD End tv is newer With blue end green jacks on it where they connect up.You will need a new patch cord with Blue end green plugs on it, The old style red white & yellow will not work.

When hooking up to a new tv, the sound no longer

Hi
This all depends on how you connected the two. If you used the component cables then you've forgotten the audio cables. If you're using an s-cable then you've bent a pin or the connector is not centered. If you're using an Html connector then the cable may be bad but my money is on the DVD player being bad.

Just moved, hooked up DVD player to new TV. Sound

if you have a picture on the tv from normal channels and/or cable, then i would suspect the scart lead may have a bent pin at one end or both or is not inserted fully.

Hook ups

use a video splitter for the audio and video, or go out of the DVD player in to the DVR, out of the DVR into the TV (WARNING!!!! Trying to hook a DVD player to any recording device may trigger the copyright protection, causing blue flashes, and distorted pictures)

Vcr hook up

Have you tried to run:
Coax from the wall to your cable box.
Coax from the cable box out to the VCR cable in.
Coax from the VCR cable out to your TV?

What connections does your TV have? RCA or coax?

DVD picture is black and white

Sounds like you are either trying to play an NTSC (US or Asian) DVD on a PAL (European) TV.

Go into the DVD settings and look for picture, video or display options.

If the DVD is set to NTSC, then set to PAL.

Hdmi not working

You need to set up the out put of your DVD player. First hook up a non hdmi output to the tv, either component or coax. You don't need to hook up the audio. You should get a picture from this connection. Then you can go into the menu and set your hdmi output to match your tv, probably 1080i. You may have to turn your volume up higher when using the hdmi cable than not. I hooked my audio up directly to a surround sound and don't use the tv's speakers.
