Question about Vacuums
If you're just purchased it I suggest you need to check where your local Warranty Agent is and take it there for a service. Since this model has an electronic switch (do the lights flash on and the middle one stays green when powered on at the power point?) you may need to get that checked out.
BTW there is a motor protect fuse that shuts the motor off if it overheats. Once the motor cools down it should have been fine. Check for blockages in the hose as sometimes things get stuck in the handle.
