I'm having a lot of trouble trying to install any files for software/hardware on my acer aspire one.
Just bought an external USB CD ROM to install things like Photoshop & Nero express on my Aspire One. The acer aspire1 recognises the Cd ROm - I click on Photoshop Elements for e.g. and it simply opens a range of available files on the CD ROM. How do I install my software??? It's driving me crazy!!!
I even have got myself into the 'advanced menu' and can open the 'add/remove software' option under 'system'. I input the correct password & all seems to be well - the acer retrieves software info & then opens up a box with 3 columns 'browse', 'list', etc. Don't recognise any of the files it lists in these areas.

1) go to www.devicedoctor.com 2) Download and install the device doctor software 3) Once installed open it up and click scan, it will then scan your PC for the best driver 4) Download the driver (entitled VGA driver) and install 5) Restart and see if this cured the issue
Hi, the Acer Aspire is a Linux operating system based computer. It does not run Microsoft windows in the same way that Apple computers run OSX, not windows. The antivirus programs you mention are for windows computers. On the bright side, running Linux you really DON'T need virus protection Linux is inherently far more secure than windows.
i dont use Emp Tec to connect i use the program that is in windows to connect to net, try that or talk to acer im sure they mentioned to me that there is a second way to re-install to factory settings using e-recovory but not sure how, prob a combo of buttons at startup just be sure to backup all your wanted files etc first!!
checked sound driver in device manager.
most likely is software issue.
if your sound driver is ok in device manager and the sound isnot working, try to re-install the driver,
if it still not working, reload/re-install the operating system.
if after you re-install operating system, still not working, it might be your motherboard
something has removed the bootmanager from your harddrive your going to need the windows cd, you can try useing the repair console to restore the bootloader, also you can try a repair install or a fresh windows install.
What matter here is not the brand of laptop or pc you have. What you've just encountered is the compatibility of its software on your OS and to other Media software. so you should decide which is more convenient for you to use then install it, but be very careful, make sure that your OS will support it, otherwise you are just installing a trouble on your pc or laptops.
Let me guess...you tried to install Roxio or another burner, and then it did not work, so you uninstalled it, but now your dvd drive has disappeared. You have tried to update the drivers, but you get a message showing that you have the latest driver, but alas, no dvd drive.
Use the restore point created just prior to installing the burner software and you will be fine. I have fixed 5 Acer 3680 laptops in the last two weeks with this problem. If you want to use Roxio or another burner software, go to the Acer webpage and link from them. Peace and good luck.
