Question about Electrolux UltraLux 2000 Bagged Canister Vacuum

1 Answer

Back filter and its door blows off as soon as I turn it on.

The rectanglular changeable filter located in the back of the canister vacuum near where the cord comes out from. This practically explodes open and blows out the filter. A tremendous amount of air flow comes out of there. Waddup?

The filter door is there, it gets blown off as well as the filter itself. On the door it says to not operate the machine without the filter. Oh well. Thanks anyway :)

Vacuum has lost suction and is making a hissing noise

I had the same problem with my Kompressor.Initially I had cleaned all three removable filters. There is two in the canister that can be washed with dish soap. The HEPA filter is located in a compartment on the lower front side of the vacuum. This HEPA filter should not be washed.I found that tapping it inside a trash can dislodged alot of dust from it. After cleaning all the filters and canister I was having the same hissing noise coming from a small hole near the bottom of the vacuum. Next I removed a hose fitting on the lower back of the vacuum and that is where I found a very large amount of debris clogging up the hose. I used a metal coat

How do you make it blow air out? trying to make air blow out,i have the hose that has controls on it. will work to **** up but when i put it to blow out will not come on.

The Guardian Canister vacuums have a blow port under the filter. So you need to remove the filter (on the Guardian Ultra, you have to open the top of the vacuum) by lifting it up the forward. Then disconnect the hose from the normal suction end of the unit and plug it into the blower port. Now turn on the vacuum. If the hose is clogged, position the other end of the hose at the suction port.

For the Guardian canister, select the high, medium or low force for the motor. Then blow the dust out from under the furniture or use to fill an inflatable. Turn off the vacuum and replace the hose in the usual position and replace the filter when done.

If you are still unable to get the unit to blow out when connected to the exhaust port after attempting to clear the hose, separate the hose, wand and handle. Look down the hose for any object that might be creating a one-way valve. Remove the foreign object.Do the same with the other parts of the unit. Also replace the vacuum bag. If the bag is sufficiently full, the airflow will be reduced through the bag to the exhaust and cause the problem you describe.

The Electrolux Guardian Canister Vacuums are part of the Aerus line. The manuals for the vacuums are available here: http://www.aerusvacuums.com/support/manuals/index.cfm . The Guardian Ultra is in the current model section. The Guardian is listed in the Older Model drop-down menu.

I hope this helps.

(many canister vacuums have a blower mode when you connect the hose to the exhaust (after the bag) instead of the suction side of the unit.)

Dirt is being trapped in the filter area instead of canister.

The canister has a filter as well. It needs to be replaced or cleaned. A damaged canister filter will feed dirt into the HEPA filter. (and the motor)
An improperly installed filter can allow dirt to bypass the canister filter and collect in the HEPA filter.
I suggest a new canister filter and then clean it carefully every week.
Here is a list of the filters for your vacuum.

My canister kenmore progressive is not sucking and is sptitting carpet powder dust all over the place. could it be it needs a new hpa filter? if so where on the vacuum would it be located?

Remove the hose from the canister, and turn on the vacuum. Does it produce good air flow into the hose port?. If ok, remove the hose from the sweeper unit and plug the end into the canister. If ok, check the bottom of the sweeper head for plugging of the air passages and inspect the sweeper bar for accumulation of thread, hair, and string. If the first test produced no air flow, then open the canister and remove the bag--turn the vacuum on and check for air flow into the motor. If still nothing, then check the hepa filter which should be near the air output from the canister. Go to: searspartsdirect.com and enter the sears model number from the information plate. The machine's part drawings will appear and select the vacuum case drawing which should display the hepa filter location and also be able to order the filter from the web site. Hope this helps!

My shop vac blows dust as soon as it's turned on and throughout use. I have changed filters, nothing is helping. What part of my vac can not get wet, or is there a better way to clean out the system?

there should be a cover or sock over the filter, this will stop the dust.the paper filter is the part that can not get wet. if you don't have a cover for your filter use an old sock or something simular to a sock.

No air pressure to **** up dirt

First test suction on unit without the hose, is there suction? If yes, attach hose and test. If no go to the door to outside, attach hose to the top of unit where it blows (under handle on top), put hose out door and turn on. The stuff clogging the hose should blow out the end.

If it wasn't the hose check the wand, and then the power nozzle and using the above to clear obstruction.

Dyson collecting debris/hair, ect on top of hepa filter?

Called Dyson today about the cyclone canister clogging in my DC17 Animal. Turns out it's a problem with the black rubber gasket in the bottom of the canister. This also causes the HEPA filter to get lots of dirt and debris on top of it. They are sending me a new Cyclone canister with the corrected gasket. This will prevent anything but small particles of dust from entering the top of the cyclone and the HEPA filter should no longer collect all that stuff. Hope so!

Electrolux vacuum turning off

hi take off canister cover remove bag now if you look inside canister you will/should see a gauze type filter at the opposite end of canister from where bag locks in ?? remove this gauze filter and for now just shake tap on floor to remve dust/debri etc /from it this gauze is the filter that when vac is working andfilling the dust bag ? the pressure of air only that blows bag up but allows only air to pass thro the microscopic holes in bag ? then has to expel via the gauze filter to exterior ? and any dust etc that is clever enough to seep through the bag ??? will not pass further due to gauze ? and so prevents this blowing back into room ok so far ?? if this gauze is blocked due to whatever ?? then pressure build up in canister will result in cover lifting? this is provided that the fault is not the actual cover securing latch is ok and not damaged ? hope this explains and helps ? best wishes from uk !
