DeLonghi Alicia EMK6 - H20 error

I've had this coffee machine since Xmas 2006 and it's always worked perfectly. Problem appeared yesterday when trying to make my secind coffee of the day: I click on the start button, it lights up for a few seconds and then displays "H20" error Of course the machine is full of water etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have descaled as instructed but it's been no use at all. Any further advice?

Thanks but still no luck. Opening the bottom base is easy I guess, but what do I look for?

Here is the link to the instruction manual if you need it; There is no information regarding this error message available online, but I think you are right and it relates to water - probably the sensor of the water level is stuck/blocked/scaled up. you can try descaling using white vinegar 50/50 solution with water, leave it overnight. Give the whole unit a good shake, in case the level sensor is a mechanical float device and it is stuck. See if any change. You can call Delonghi/Comet from this link; hopefully they will tell you for certain what the error message means - if they do and it is different from what is discussed above, then please ask again if you want to try and solve the problem yourself. Hope this helps :)

Check there are no switches that tell the machine if the lids/covers etc are closed - if so then try pushing them in manually if you can and see if the error message goes away.

Try unplugging the machine for at least half an hour, see if it resets itself. If not, try holding down the power button when you plug it back in.

If no joy from that then either you will need to open the machine up and we can try and talk you through what to check (a digital camera can help), but i would try and contact DeLonghi first to see what they have to say.

I suspect a faulty heating element, which is not too hard to verify if you have access to a multimeter. Other possibility is a faulty control circuit board, which is probably repairable and definitely replaceable - ask DeLonghi if they will supply parts if you want to go that route - else we can most likely source the parts from the individual manufacturers using the info printed on the parts themselves.

Let me know what you would like to do :)

Yesterday, my Keurig was giving me trouble with the menu, but it still made my coffee. That was the first time my coffee machine has ever given me trouble over the nearly year and a half I've owned it....

The problem is often that the machine develops a leak in the hose that is rightover the transformer...the water drips onto the transformer and kills that...then you have no power to run the machine.

Here is a tip that I wrote about this problem...
