I have had problems with the scanner light staying on sometimes. I downloaded/installed the latest driver and not the light stays on all the time. Is this a problem with because of Vista or is it the scanner software? I have to unplug the scanner power when I am not using it.

I have many years experience repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion for you.
I guess I have a couple of questions for you first. Does your computer recognize the scanner is attached to your computer? If so can you scan in any other program like Windows Paint? If you say yes to both of these then the problem is with configuring your adobe software. If you say no then we need to go back to basics. I would google Canon Canoscan 8400F Drivers, it should pull up a page that will take you to Canons official website. Download the latest drivers from Canon's official website,the drivers are dated and the ones towards the top should be the latest drivers. The drivers are free. Also while your there download the newest version of Capture Perfect its a utility program for scanning its free also but download the latest one. Now make sure your scanner is unplugged from your computer, the cable that goes from the scanner to the computer. Install the latest drivers on to your computer. Once they are installed, then with your scanner powered on attach the cable from the scanner to your computer. A window should pop up saying a new device (or drivers) is being installed. Once this completes reboot your scanner and you should be able to scan again.
I use Paint shop and in order for me to scan with my Canon scanner I need to go to aquire and image, from a scanner or camera, and then it controls the scanner and does the scanning for me.
turn off the scanner, disconnect and reconnect it from the computer. if it still doesnt scan, reinstall the scanner driver(make sure you install the latest version) then restart your computer. hope it'll help. good day. =)
yes this is perfectly normal, as long as it is on the light will stay on but you will also notice that it will always be in its staring position which is all the way twards the back when not in use. i hope this helps
That is often an un-fixable problem. However, sometimes a fully charged fresh set of batteries will handle. (Use high-quality rechargables, not disposable alkalines.) Also try power cycling the unit several times.
Either go to driversguide.com or go to panasonic's website and request the latest operating specific driver for your Panasonic kx-mb781 scanner. Download the driver and install it. It may be necessary to uninstall the old driver first. Also, try to obtain the operating and maintenance manuals for the scanner from panasonic. If you don't already have it. If you spend a little time surfing the two suggested websites you should be able to resolve your problem. Get back with me if you still have problems.
There shouldn't be any problem really.
A couple of things you can try:
1. Verify that you have SP2 in the new Dell;
2. Verify that you have USB 2.0;
3. Verify that all your USB are enabled in your CMOS/BIOS;
4. Un-check "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" in your USB Power Management;
5. Try other USB ports (front/rear).
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turns up or should you need further information.
Good luck and kind regards.
