After a complete discharge of my battery over weeks and a reload, my Garmin shows a hard disk error with the hind to send the unit to a Garmin service center. Do I have any chance to repair the disk like in a PC? Thanks for help

Re: Boot problems after discharging my battery

If your unit needs servicing, your best bet is to contact Garmin. It is not set up similarly enough to your PC for you to be able to repair it.

Garmin 1260T blankscreen?

Try pressing and HOLDING the power button for up to 15 seconds (or until it powers up - whichever happens first). This is a "hard reset" and should get you going unless the battery is discharged.

Oddly, batteries can discharge when the GPS remains on the car charger. Disconnect it and connect to the your computer's USB port (or AC adapter if it came with one) over night. The computer must be ON - "sleeping" is ok too - just not "OFF". This will charge the internal battery.

If it will not accept a charge, you may need to replace the battery or return the GPS to Garmin for service.

Garmin 530 log on problems

Could be a problem with the memory card. Please try to remove that then power up and see if the issue is resolved. If not, it could be a problem with the internal circuitry. If this is the case, then unfortunately, there is no other go except to get the device service.

My garmin nuvi shows the Garmin name thenpowers off immediately. I can not do anything with it because it does not stay on long enough

Glad to HELP YOU!

This problem usually appears when the battery is COMPLETELY DISCHARGED. So your device doesn't have enough power/energy to complete the booting cycle = to TURN ON.
Take out the battery [if possible] and clean all connectors [the golden metallic tiny stripes] with a dry soft cloth.
Re-insert back the battery and make a complete CHARGING CYCLE.
Then try again.
If the problem persists you have no other choice but to buy a new battery for your GPS device.

Touch screen does not work

I had the same problem.
I fixed it by running the battery completely down.

Leave it on until it shuts down, then turn it back on till it shuts down again.
Repeat this a few times to make sure the battery is completely discharged.

After that, I plugged it into a power source and it worked fine.

My Garmin said low battery then will not work. I have the Garmin205W. I can not find were the battery is located. Help

First discharge completely device, then charge full (8hours)

You can have longer battery life if you turn of the backlight.
If you have same issue, then your battery should be changed

Battery discharging quickly

I think you have a faulty battery so if you can replace it. If the problem still persists then the most likely cause is a faulty capacitor on the power supply board of the gps. If you can find a competant technician to fix it. Hope this helps.

Make a sprite backup to an SD card before changing battery. If you lose data just restore it from the backup.

Will not turn on

I've just experienced the same issue. I spoke with a Garmin tech about this and explained that I had also tried using the reset button, several different outlets, and the USB cable. The tech seemed very familiar with this issue and immediately recommended that I download the most recent software update from their website, then leave the unit unplugged for 24 - 48 hours to fully discharge the battery. He claimed that the unit was actually on, but a software glitch prevented both the reset and power buttons from functioning and also prevented anything from being displayed on the screen. He suggested that once the battery has completely drained, it will power up again when plugged into the USB port of your computer. The software update is said to help prevent the problem from recurring. I am still waiting for the battery to discharge so I have been unable to get this fix to work for myself yet.

Gps 276C doesn't charge fully

Garmin has updates for this issue on the website but it doesn't fix all the units. Mine for example still does the whole "charge complete" thing when showing 1/2 a battery. The funny thing is I let it drain and the unit stays on for about 10 hours after it says the battery is dead. Garmin is working on a new fix and they said it should be up in about a week.
