If you want to connect to an icemaker, youll need about a 1/4" plastic line, could be bigger or smaller, depending on model.. then you need a saddle valve to connect to cold water line. Go to home depot or your local hardware and they can help.

No Water going in to the fridge

Hi Norm,

Most fridges don't need a motor to run in order to dispense water. A simple on / off solenoid on the water line (same for the ice maker) that makes a click when changing from off to on and on to off is usually all anyone hears (the ice maker makes rumbling sounds and you can hear ice falling into the bin - too).

Check for ice. If it has a maker and it is making ice, the problem could be a defective water dispenser switch, solenoid or other circuit component or wire. If no ice, I'd suspect a filter or water supply issue.

Make sure the filter is fully inserted and twisted into place. Many filters have marks to align when 1) inserting and 2) to let you know when it is installed correctly. When sure it is installed correctly - try to dispense water again. Many fridges will dispense water without a filter. Check your manual before trying this though! If not working still, remove the filter and try to dispense water. If you're able to dispense water, the problem is either the installation of the filter or the filter itself. Try to re-install it correctly. Try to dispense water again.

If it still doesn't work - call the plumber back and ask why there's no water. Or - try this yourself:

Locate the point of attachment to the domestic water supply that the plumber used. There should be a valve to turn the water on and off. If off, turn ON. Try to dispense water again.

If that doesn't work - check to see if the fridge has pinched, kinked or crushed the water supply line. You may need to move the fridge forward to gain access to the water line and connection point on the fridge. Repair or replace the line as needed and route in such a way that moving the fridge in or out will not cause it to damage the line again.

Good luck!

How to install the water for the ice maker

To hook up an water supply to an ice maker falls under two catagories. The first being that a water supply valve is already present behind the machine and therefore all you have to do is get a water line, preferably a braided steel ice maker line that can be purchased at home depot or lowes. Then you just sonnect the water line to the water supply at the wall the to the water valve on the machine, located on the lower right or left side in the back. The second scenario is yoo don't have a supply line, and in that case your going to have to locate the nearest water line, most likely under the sink, and you'll have to run a line. They have an ice maker installation kit at home depot and lowes, and you may have to drill a hole through the cabinet to make the line unseen, or even through the floor and back up again. Either way its not a difficult task, just takes time and patience. Good luck.

No water coming out of the dispenser

Hello there and welcome to fixya
Dispenser Does Not Operate
  • 1 Ensure that the water supply line is installed according to the manufacturer's directions. Turn the water supply shutoff valve counter-clockwise to fully open it.
  • 2 Replace the water filter or remove the filter and install the plug. A clogged filter will prevent the water dispenser from functioning properly.
  • 3 Place a large container under the water dispenser. Press and hold the dispenser lever for at least two minutes to remove air in the water system.
Does Not Dispense Water
  • 1 Inspect the supply line and shutoff valve for clogs. Call a plumber to remove clogs in the line or shutoff valve.
  • 2 Replace the water filter cartridge or remove the filter and install the plug.
  • 3 Ensure that the filter cartridge is installed properly. Remove it and reinstall the filter cartridge. The cartridge will lock into place when installed correctly.

How to reassemble ice dispenser parts od kenmore model 106.5706*602

Clean out the new ice maker with warm soapy water.

Ensure that the floor surface under your refrigerator is level. If the floor surface under your refrigerator isn't level, you can place shims under the legs of the refrigerator to fix the uneven surface.

Turn off the main water supply to your house.

Clear the water line by running the faucets until the pipe clears.

Screw the copper supply line's connector to the house's cold water connector valve. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the connection.

Slide the compression sleeve and nut onto the other end of the copper supply line. The compression sleeve and nut will wrap around the outside of the copper supply line.

Bend the copper supply line to fit into the water line inlet casing located on the back of the refrigerator. Leave slack in the line so that the refrigerator can be pulled away from the wall or cabinets. The water line inlet casing is a plastic bracket used to hold the copper supply line in place so that there is no pull on the tubing's connection. It is the larger of the two plastic brackets located on the back of the refrigerator.

Insert the compression sleeve located around the end of the copper supply line into the ice maker connector. The ice maker connector is already installed on the back of the Maytag refrigerator.

Tighten the nut over the connection between the compression sleeve on the copper supply line and the ice maker connector with an adjustable wrench.

Attach the water supply tube clamp to the water supply line by clipping it into place. The water supply tube clamp is a plastic bracket located on the back of the refrigerator that holds the supply tube so that it doesn't rattle and become disconnected. It is the smaller of the two brackets located on the back of the refrigerator.

Turn on the main water supply.

Check all connections for leaks.

Position the drain hose located on the back of the ice maker over your floor drain. Use a PVC pipe if you need to redirect the drain hose flow so that it falls over the floor drain. The PVC pipe should not touch the drain hose and should have no low point where the water can settle.

Plug the ice maker into a 3-prong grounded outlet.

WATER DISPENSER NOT WORKING

It might be that you have a restriction at the water supply line serving the fridge. Check it for good flow (have bucket and towels handy!) If supply line is good, then move onto the fridge to check the water inlet valve(s). as newer models have 2 or 3 inlet valves, a main water valve for the entire unit, and possibly one each for the ice maker and water dispenser past the main inlet valve (solinoid).

You can check these by simply shutting off the main supply to the fridge from the house water line 1st, and then removing each water line from the supply side of the fridge and seeing if you have water flow from the house to the valve side. If you do, then reconnect the lines to the fridge valves and see if you can get water flowing to the other side of the solinoid/valve when you have someone try to get a glass of water from the water dispenser, etc.

It is possible that there is an obstruction in the lines, by not very likely. Normally it is a failed water valve(s) (solinoid) that causes low flow or complete loss of flow, especially if you've changed the fridge water filter or replaced it with the "cap" which eliminates filtering of the water.

It is that you'll likely have to replace at least one, maybe more, of the fridge inlet water valves. If you have the time, try to zero in on the failed one by bypassing each, one at a time, until you get water flow. That way, you'll only have to purchase just the replacement valve needed to get things working again.

I have a 2004 whirpool side by side refrigerator and i was wondering if ther is a way to increase the water volume at the water despencer?

The dispenser has a designed specification flow from the manufacturer. There are filters installed inside or outside of the unit. If the water flow appears to have decreased over the years, it may be 1 or all the filters that may nedd to be replaced. Check your user's manual to see what filters are installed as a servicable component, and replace them. An installer may have also placed an in-line filter on your water supply, so look for this also. The water supply line is only a 1/4 inch line, so anything larger than that in the line may be construed as a filter. All filters should be replace every 6 months at the least, unless their specifications say otherwise.

The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

Hello jitkagardner,
Welcome

You said, The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

How old is the fridge?
When have you last changed the water filter.
Should be down below at the front grille!
Try these tasks!

If the ice maker is not producing ice or not enough ice
Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply
shutoff valve turned on? Connect refrigerator to water
supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open.
• Kink in the water source line? A kink in the line can reduce
water flow. Straighten the water source line.
• Ice maker turned on? Make sure wire shutoff arm or switch
(depending on model) is in the ON position.
• New installation? Wait 24 hours after ice maker installation
for ice production to begin. Wait 72 hours for full ice
production.
• Freezer door closed completely? Firmly close the freezer
compartment door. If the freezer compartment door will not
close all the way, see "The doors will not close completely."
• Large amount of ice recently removed? Allow 24 hours for
ice maker to produce more ice.
• Ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
Remove ice from the ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
• Water filter installed on the refrigerator? Remove filter and
operate ice maker. If ice volume improves, then the filter may
be clogged or incorrectly installed. Replace filter or reinstall it
correctly.
• Reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply? This can decrease water pressure.

Let me know how it goes!

Water supply

Hi Don,

Cold water supply at Fridge location. Run 1/4" tubing and connectors to match the supply valve and solenoid valve on the Fridge. Should be just one tubing connection.
If you do not have a supply at your Fridge, you can shut off your main supply and tap into the cold water line and run you a supply over to the fridge. use 1/2" PVC pipe and fittings to route over to the fridge. Get a Threaded adapter to connect a shutoff Valve. This way you have a way to keep the main supply on and hook up the Tubing from the fridge to the supply.
