Del Vostro 1000 Laptop Wrong colors on screen

Bad inverter or possibly a bad video card or M/B.

the standard values for the poker chip colors are as follows
White, $1
Yellow, $2
Red, $5
Blue, $10
Grey, $20
Green, $25 sometimes green is also used as a $20 value
Orange, $50
Black, $100
Pink, $250
Purple, $500
Burgundy, $1000
Light Blue, $2000
Brown, $5000

Probably either the graphics chip ( if it behaves like this on an external monitor), if not, issues with screen failing ( you have not had it close to a magnetic source have you? such as a hoover, fridge, tv speakers?. This would cause the problem

In any event, given that its only 6 month old it should be under warranty, my advice, return it and demand a replacement

older vostros usually have a broken dc jack right where the power connector plugs in. otherwise try another ac adapter and also try removing and replacing the battery underneath.

Try to do this: (Draining flea power)
1. Unplug the ac adapter (if connected)
2. Remove the battery
3. Press and hold the power button for at least 10sec.
4. Put back the battery and ac adapter
5. Turn it on

- check if you can now boot to windows, if not there could be a hardware problem and next step would be running some diagnostic test on the computer for hardware problem.

The display is gone. Replace it. You see the basic Red-Green-Blue pallete... The liquid chrystals are "broken down"

If you have a LCD-screen, not an old-style CRT-screen, it is the data-cable, and its connections, that are not transmitting one of the 3 "primary" colours, e.g., mix red & blue & green to get white,
but mix only two of those colours, and you could get pink,
because the mixing is an "additive" process.

If you mix NONE of the 3 primary colours, you should get BLACK.
If you see GREEN, you're seeing ONE of the primary colours.

Loose electrical connection or its loosing its grip to hold your screen. If you can do it on warranty then try. Or have it check by a technician.

Using the on screen menu, check the hue or wall color settings. [Hue]
Varies the color level from +/- green to +/-blue. The red level is used as reference. This adjustment is only valid for
Video, Component and TV standard inputs (not valid for RGB and DVI digital).


Using the Wall Color Correction [Wall Color]
This function allows for quick adaptive color correction in applications where the screen material is not white.
The following nine options are available.
• OFF • Blackboard
• Blackboard (Gray) • Light yellow
• Light green • Light blue
• Sky blue • Light rose
• Pink
