Question about Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (WM3945AGMW1WB)

1 Answer

Intel Pro wireless 3945ABG cannot find available wireless network

I've a VAIO FGN-FE with XP Media Center SP3 and an onboard 3945AGB wifi card that no longer finds wireless networks, either my own or neighbours' like it used to. I've tried updating drivers, rolling back drivers, uninstalled, restarted, automatically reinstalled with 12.2.0.11 drivers, restarted modem and router several times, and nothing helps.
The device manager reports no conflicts and the device is functional. Yet it doesn't function ;)
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the router (Dlink D-655) as other laptops in the home connects faultlessly.
Am ready to sacrifice to the Boffin God for practical solutions! cheers, Johan K/Stockholm

Thanks - that fixed it! I wasn't even aware I had a hardware switch, which proved to be switched off (I must have fingered it inadvertently), and that did the trick. I didn't have ProSet installed, but I have it now, and the connection is now restored.

    Thanks a ton

Did u check if the wireless radio is enabled in the computer or not just make sure the wireless radio is on.....
1st check the hardware switch first....
on the front panel you will see a swith as well as the wireless card indicator for the wireless, just toggle the switch and check if the wireless inicator light is on and off incase the light is on and the switch is turned off do the following step...
2nd click on start go to all program, you will see intel proset click on intel proset and you will see two options now click on intel proset utillity, out here in this box you will see enable radio check if it says the hardware switch is on or off,if it is off choose the option to on and click on apply and ok and then check..
now you should be able to see the network as well as it should be connected to the network...

incase both the hardware as well as the switch was on let me kno what error is it giving while you click to view the network...
it might a possible thing that you need to reset the wireless card.....u might need to take the card in and out from the computer...

best of luck...
incase you are stuck let me know..

Wlan driver problem in vaio vgn-cs21gn

Hi...
This is Nishit Jadawala from Ahmedabad, India. I am also having the same problem with my Sony Vaio VGN-CS21GN Laptop. WiFi was working perfectly in Vista but when I downgraded it to Windows-XP it started giving me errors that "Driver Not Found for the Device" I have downloaded all the drivers available on internet but nothing worked.
Finally after 8 months of research on this problem, I came to know that there is a bug in the supplied Windows XP-SP3 Operating System. There is a file in Service Pack 3 that doesn't allow drivers to access the hardware of WiFi.
The Solution is you will have to forget the bundled windows XP and upgrade your operating System. Right now better option is to go for windows 7. It dint even asked for any kind of drivers to load. WiFi is also working perfectly on it. The laptop has become more faster & smoother than in windows XP.
For more queries, you can write to me on mail.squarez@gmail.com
Thanks & Regards,

XP SP3 doesnt allow driver to get loaded

not a problem in xp sp3 under the device manager in system properties you will have a yellow circle and black exclamation mark and probably say unknown device or ethernet device. right click go to properties and in details tab you will see Device ID.. we can track OEM driver from this.

Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection code 10

Hi,
Code 10 usually means the device driver is not compatible, outdated or corrupt.

Try uninstalling the wireless device again and then reinstall using the latest driver available from:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2259&OSFullName=Windows+Vista*+Home+Premium%2C+32-bit+version&lang=eng&strOSs=153&submit=Go!

NB If you're running XP, use the second one.

Hope this helps

Can't add new PC to extant WEP 128 network

If your system is encrypted you will need to set it up in xp before you open the media centre as if i remember there is no option to enter a password for WEP. Just open the network card properties and select the TCP/IP line then properties ans select obtain ip address automatically. Then when network is detected enter the WEP password numbers.
