LG LDS 8511 WW - water leaking from upper right inner door

Hey there,
just a guy in new jersey with an ongoing leak problem. we noticed water pooling at the front right of the unit. my wife started putting towels and now a plastic in front to catch the dripping water, about 1/3 glass of it through one wash. I noticed that there was no water pooling underneath the unit, it was strictly under the door area, with a dry area between that and the kick plate, so I assume it's not an inlet thing from the back.

Then I noticed water was tricking down on the RHS of the door, on the "back" part of the door, it was trickling down from all the way at the top right, where there was a loud gurgling sound if you put your ear there.

I dont know if its a "door not properly locking or closing" thing ( I read that that hinges can not be adjusted, even if I knew how to adjust them), or a "gasket is starting to fail" thing.

My problem is-- if I buy a gasket for the door, I read the newer part # is 3920DD3005A for 40 bucks or whatnot, will I be able to put it in myself? Would I need a special tool?

thanks. you'll be making my wife happy if you can solve this!

thanks, guy. i think i'll order the gasket then. from my description of the source and location of the water leak, does it sound like the gasket, or that inside-the-door condensor leak thing? i'm hoping it's just the gasket.

The new replacement door gasket is slightly thicker than the original and should stop your leakage. It might take you two minutes to change it out if you are taking your time. (ie: on a scale of 1 - 10, this one's a 1.) Old one pulls out, new one pushes in. No tools needed.

Water dripping out of door vent in lower left side

This is being caused by the vent tube design. The lower fitting is pushed up into the upper fitting so water leaks out from the top. The fittings are designed backwards. Remove front door panel and their will be a white tube running down the side. That tube is pushed up into its mate. Pull it down and silacone calk all around the out side of that pieces and the inside of the upper piece. put them back together and then tape it with some duck tape. DO NOT US FOR AT LEAST 24 hrs.

Dishwasher leaking from front door..not gasket leak

Contact LG support number. Have proof of purchase info available, but even if the LDS 5811ST is out of warranty, explain the symptom then firmly but politely explain that you are aware of a retrofit program for the LG LDS and LDF models that fix the problem of poor drying and water leaking from the _door_ panel (Lower left area)
Insist that they schedule a service call (no cost) or replace your dishwasher with the retrofit applied.
Good Luck!

Water leak at door of dishwasher. LDS 8511 WW

Because this is an LG 8511, it has a Hybrid Drying System that is completely in the door panel. Normaly, when the (dry) air exits this dishwasher, it leaves via a port at the bottom of the door. That system is clearly broken on your unit.
Water is almost certainly entering the internal port in the door that normally only allows moist air. Due to the wiring and other stuff in the door panel that is at risk, it is important to get this unit serviced soon.
Hope that helps. If you have more questions on this topic, please reply.
