Question about Frigidaire FEF352 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

FEF352 - Burners will not heat up.

When I initially turn on the burners, they get warm, but they do not maintain the heat. They actually just go cold, as if I have turned off the burner. All 4 burners are affected. For the past week, they never get hot enough to cook anything. Please help.

Sounds like a power issue if it is all 4 burners otherwise if it is only one or two it is the infinate switch that controls the burner. if it is all 4 then pull the range out and open the panel that covers the cord connection and check for burned wires. next reset the breaker and try burners again

Should the burners go off and on

yes this is totsly normal
they are really not burners, they are elements, and you dont really cook from the heat of the burner, on this design, you actually cook from the heat of the glass, so as the glass cools through convection, the element will cycle, on and off to ensure the glass maintains a temp +- 25 degrees to the set temp

hope this helps

Both burners should be replaced as well as the recepticles that it plugs into. There are recepticle kits available for this repair.

Oven Burners not lighting completely

It's the igniters. They increase in resistance as the elements age and decreases the current required to heat the spring element in the gas valve.

Replace both igniters.

No heat at burners or oven

check your fuse / breaker box make sure you have power (sounds like you dropped a leg of power) make sure breakers/fuse is on/good flip it to off the to on if oven don't work then take a look at the cord to the range check power at the wall then open where cord goes into range check power or you may even find the cord burnt in there if so replace all damaged wires good luck

Mag...not sure here. Is there a particular reason that you're suspecting a problem? Does the unit heat much slower than before? Does it bake properly? You may be looking for problems that aren't.

Problem w/burners & lights after self clean

You may want to re-seat the right two cooking elements, in case there is poor electrical contact. When you have them removed, clean the contacts with denatured 91% alcohol and a Q-tip. The removal procedure follows.
First, unplug the range.
LIFT–UP PORCELAIN COOKTOP
To lift:  When cool, grasp the cooktop front
edge.  Gently lift up until the two support rods
snap into place.
To lower:  Hold the cooktop front edge and
carefully push back on each support rod to
release.  Then lower the top into place.
COIL ELEMENTS
➢When an element is on, it will cycle on
and off to maintain the heat setting.
➢Coil elements are self-cleaning. Do not
immerse in water.
To remove:  When cool, raise element.  Carefully pull out and away from receptacle.
Check them for damage. They do wear out.
To replace:  Insert element terminals into receptacle.  Guide the element into place. Press down on the outer edge of element until it sits level on drip bowl.
COIL ELEMENT SURFACE
➢ On Canadian models, the two front elements will not operate during self-clean.To prevent the risk of electric shock or fire, never line drip bowls with aluminum foil.

If that does work, you may have a faulty control panel. In that case, call Maytag at the number below.
