While playing a youtube video there is no sound.

You might be having an issue with sound drivers. Try to fix it using Windows System Restore. If it doesn't work, Right click Computer icon, select Properties, then Device Manager. Under Sound Video and Game Controller (or any Unknown Device), check to see if there's any device that's having a conflict (or disabled). If it's disabled, simple enable it. If it's having a conflict, Right click then select update drivers. You might need to obtain the original driver cd that came with your computer. Please send a feedback if this works for you. Thanks.

I cant hear any sound from my computer when i

It looks like the sound card driver has gone bad or disabled. It would be great if you have shared the windows version you are using.

I am going to give certain steps that will be common for almost all operating system for you to check

Right click on my computer (or computer for Vista / Windows 7)
Click on Manage
in the left side of this window click on device manager, check if you can see any question mark or exclamation mark, if you see it on audio devices or anything resembling sound related items then its confirmed that the drivers are the problem,

Based on the make and model number of your computer / motherboard / sound card we need to download the right drivers and get it sorted

use the following link to know how to download the appropriate drivers.
http://www.fixya.com/support/r7096803-get_driver_in_case_lost_driver_cd

if sound was working before couple of days you can also do a system restore with the following procedure, do not panic you will not loose any file you created (you may loose application installed recently(
for XP
click on Start
go to All programs / programs
go to Accessories
go to System tools
click on system restore
click on the next button
choose a date which is bold and you know that your sound was working
and click on next and follow onscreen instructions.

for Vista / Windows 7
click on start
start typing system restore
click on system restore
and use the same procedure as above to click on a date / restore point created when your computer had good sound.
then follow the onscreen instructions,

your computer settings will be take back to the day when it was working fine.

Audio/volume problem

First, go to control panel - > Audio devices, then right-click any empty spot on the sound device, and show disabled or disconnected devices. If "Speakers" shows up, right-click and choose set as default (or something similiar). If this does not work, just reinstall your audio drivers. Right-click my computer -> Properties -> Hardware - > Device manager - > Sound, then find the sound cards manufacturer name, and right-click an press uninstall.

SOund not working on compaq cq40-330tu with win xp sp3

Click Start, right click My Computer, go to Properties, Hardware, Devise Manager. Click on the plus mark, check for any yellow question marks in Sound, video and game controllers. If you see one, right click the device then you can try a number of things. Do not disable the device. Try up-dating the driver if no driver is found try uninstalling the driver and restarting the computer. The computer might install the driver after it loads Windows. You can try double clicking or going to properties from the right-click menu. Check the devise status trouble shoot if necessary. The first thing I want you to try is from the properties menu, go to driver, then click Roll Back Driver. If all this don't work go to Start, Help and Support, then System Restore. Restore to an earlier time. Choose a day and month in the calender previous to the day you last remember it working, then click next and follow the instructions. See if that does it, the days available or restore points will be highlighted in th calender.
