Question about Sony KP-53V75 53" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

No audio My audio just quit one day about two years ago.It doesn`t work from the front of the TV or the remote.I hooked an outside receiver to the TV speakers and they work fine but I am letting my 80 year old parents use the TV and I want it back the way it was so they don`t have to deal with two remotes.Any ideas? It also seems as so called TV repair men won`t work on a TV that is of 1998 vintage, what a joke.

Re: No audio

9 times out of 10 a TV like that which has no audio is fine and the audio settings are not right or it is a cable box / satellite receiver problem. If you are using cable then connect the cable directly to the TV, tune in an active channel and set the volume about half way. If you do not hear any sound then, using the remote, go into the menu, scroll to the audio page and make sure the speakers are not set to OFF and also make sure the audio is not set to SAP. If you have checked all that and everything is set correctly and you still have no audio, then your audio output IC is probably bad or cracked and should be resoldered or replaced by a qualified tech.

Based on what you described I would say your TV has the "shrinking and expanding" fault. Its a common problem on that model and the symptoms can range from the video shrinking and expanding or no video or no audio....You can read more about this fix on the site

Have you gone through your onkyo receivers setup manual. You will most likely need to adjust the settings on your Onkyo receiver. I also have an onkyo reciever and I have to assign the inputs to the video source. Being that you got sound out of the front speakes. There are generally three HDMI slots at the back panel of an HD TV. Make sure you have connected the PS3 and the Apple TV in two separate slots. Sound will work because you must have hooked it up in Audio IN at the back or if you have connected the red and white audio cables in the front panel , the audio will work only on the camera setting on your TV

No the fact that he didnt ask how old really isnt relevant. What happened when you said it went bad? I actually would be like your husband if it was working fine and he hooked it up and it fried it when he was there, I would also push for them to pay for repairs. Installers are not always the brightest guys in the world. I worked 13 years in electronics and cant tell you how many times I was in someones house to fix(not actual damage) things they hooked up wrong. Probably the truth is 10 years is a good run for a rear projection tv to go without needing something fixed.

My Mitsubishi projection TV will not produce audio or video

Two things are involved to cause that problem, tv remote control and remote sensor in tv.
Upon verification of remote working, it would be confirm that remote sensor in tv is defective and need to be replaced.
Remote control sends infra red light signal to tv and we can not see that light with naked-eye, so need digital camera or cell phone camera to see it by watching remote front through camera, press any keys on remote, if you see infra red light is blinking in remote front that means remote is working and remote sensor in tv will be replaced.
If no light blinking on pressing remote buttons confirm that this remote is defective and buy new remote.
Let me know if you have additional question.

I have a 37 inch sansui flat screen television model # HDLCD 3700. The sound just quit working; the picture is fine? Is thier any trouble shooting that can be done?

Please unplug TV from AC wall socket for couple of minutes, replug back in and turn it On and check sound.
If problem still exist, check internal speakers are enable / ON in Menu.
If speakers are ON and yet no sound, then need to check sound at Audio Out jacks at back of TV, hook audio cable (white-red rca pins) in audio out jack in TV and receiver/ amplifier to get TV sound in receiver/ amplifier speakers. This is a test/ check and you can use it to get TV sound through receiver speakers.
And if still no sound in audio out jacks in TV then TV needs main board replacement. Check with local TV repair shop for that.

PT-52LCX65-K Panasonic rear-projection LCD No Sound

My panasonic did the same thing. turns out my coaxial cable hooking up the cable from the wall was bad. Once i unhooked it from the wall, the sound popped. I wiggled it a little on the receiver end on the wall and got sound. So try replacing your cable box cord and see if it fixes it.
