The yellow SafeSense light comes on with both forward and back switching. Green power light comes on as well, but the motor doesn't move.

Have an electrician install a 4-way light switch, that will reverse polarity on the two wires that power the motor, coming from the damaged computer board (that USE to swap polarity ) and have him mount it where it can be easily seen and reached. The drawing below is only to explain how the 4-way switch works.
As I am an Electrician, it was an easier and more cost effective solution, when my 4year old turned my shredder into a piggy bank, burning out the forward option within the computer board.
Use a cotton bud dipped in alcohol and clean sensors
Run shredder once a day in reverse for 15 seconds to clear cutters
Empty wastebasket when bin full indicator light is illuminated using b0
If this does not solve the problem goto

In forward operation, a detector senses the presence of material in the feeder and turns it on. Reverse operation is selected by switch position; no sensor is involved. I would bet that if you remove power and turn the shredder upside down you will find bits of shredded paper clogging your shredder, particularly in the center area where the detector is located. After thorough removal of debris, you should be back to normal operation
Try to reset the shredder.----
Toggle the On/Off switch at the back few times times. Then see if it gets reset.--------Toggling it on and off to reset the shredder. Make sure to pull out the paper bin while you toggle the power switch on and off a dozen or so times and then put the basket paper bin back in place. When you power the unit back on the forward button should work again and the shredder should feed paper through properly.------Another procedure is Using the power switch in the back, power on with the blue button and keep press forward till it worked.-------Turning the off/on switch multiple times mostly helps.------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
Per the DS1 manual the toggle switch under the deck is the SafeSense override switch. The override switch deactivates the SafeSense feature so that you may clear a paper jam. When the switch is in the override (left) position, the SafeSense yellow light will flash and the SafeSense feature will not function. Once the paper is cleared, reset the SafeSense override switch to the right position.
Per the DS1 manual the yellow light relates to the SafeSense feature. A toggle switch under the deck is the SafeSense override switch. The override switch deactivates the SafeSense feature so that you may clear a paper jam. When the switch is in the override (left) position, the SafeSense yellow light will flash and the SafeSensefeature will not function. Once the paper is cleared, reset the SafeSense override switch to the right position. The SafeSense yellow light turns on when you touch or are too close to the paper insert opening.
the flashing indicates a past jam or safe sense turned off . you can reset the error by following the instructions in the owners manual. if you do not have manual go to www.fellowes.com , support and download the owners manual for your model.
