Question about Heating & Cooling

Won't ignite!!! My Rheem Quiet comfort 80 is only three years old and has started to have intermittent problems heating my home. There is a clicking sound, but the burners don't ignite. On other days it will work fine. I have had the gas manifold replaced, as the initial contractor bent them on installation. He said this was the problem, but I am still without heat. Help?

You have a gas valve problem. When you hear the clicking I would focus on the valve. if you have a meter milti meter set it to ohms and ohm out the gas valve. Where you see the two wires going into the top of the gas valve disconnect the wires and check there. If you get no reading the coil inside is bad. this is almost a professional type of fix as natural gas is very dangerous to install improperly let alone buying a gas valve. You can do it though get back with me if you find the gas valve good and we can go from there. ken

If the igniter is not sparking on the pilot assy the pilot will not ignite all the time. You or anyone needs to see if the spark is hitting the pilot assy. be careful not to get shocked. My best recomendation would be call a professional to check unit...

I have a rheem classic quiet 80 . furnace starts up but the igniter will not kick in to start the flame

This problem can be one of two things:

1) Bad igniter.

2) Control board not sending 120 volts to igniter.

You will need a multimeter to verify if the igniter is receiving 120 volts.

Have a rheem furnace/ten yrs old.just replaced thermocoupler and gas valve, furnace will turn on thermocoupler will get red but no heat? whats up?

I know it may sound strange but check to make sure the gas cut-off valve is turned parallel with the gas pipe. If its open, you may have a failed fan proof switch. air pressure from draft induced blower causes the switch to click and open the main gas valve. if this this switch doesn't click(close contacts) the maing as valve will not open to ignite the burners. its a sequence of events that a furnace goes through before it ignites the burner for heat.

My rheem quiet 80 ignition flame keep going out. it'll turn on and then go out.

I have a Rheem Classic 80 furnace that would ignite but not stay lit. Cleaned the ignition sensor which was easy to get to and the flame sensor which was under the burner plate and it fired up and stayed lit. The flame sensor was about 6" under the burner plate. Easy to get out, but tough to get back in. Used the old piece of paper shim trick to get the screw to "stick" in the socket and it was much easier to position the screw and get it back where it belonged.

How can I adjust the time a rheem furnace Classic quiet 80runs?

Turn the thermostat down. If it's a mercury bulb stat, they are very inacurate and have a wide temp swing.

You could also just replace the thermostat with a good honeywell or white rodgers digital stat and get more accuracy, comfort and efficiency out of your unit.

I replaced my Rheem Ruud 62-24084-82 Ignition Module Control Board in my Rheem gas furnace last year. Has worked great until last night. Now blower purge motor starts but does not go into ignitor cycle. ...

When the purge motor turns on, the controller is waiting for proof that it is running before ignition. On your model I think it a differential pressure switch and it should be in front of the furnace. Should be able to see a pressure or vacuum line running to. If it isnt there there may be a switch inside purge motor. If there is more than 2 wires running to the motor it probable is there. Anyway the controller is waiting for proof.
