The TV is automatically skipping past program channels - we cannot get it to stay on one channel to watch.. How can we fix this?
Thanks.

    danman1453,

    Thanks replying.

The flipping is happening at set intervals, less than 1 sec per channel. It flips through them all and finishes on a blank channel.

We completely blackened the room too so no other IR sources are interfering. Changed the batteries in remote, that didn't help..

Thanks for that suggestion, we tried but nothing showed up.

I should have added that the tv has been working fine until today.

The model is KP-EF41 (Is that the sort of info you need? I'm hopeless with this kind of thing!)

    Thanks again.

Is the channel flipping always happening at set intervals? Or, just randomly? Try replacing the batteries in the remote. If that doesn't work, start looking for other sources of IR(infrared). In some rare cases, direct sunlight on the TV will get it to do strange things.

Do you have a cellphone with a camera or digital camera? IR is not visible to the human eye. But, cell cameras and most digital cameras can see it. It shows up as a purple to white light. Turn off the lights again and look for anything flashing around that color while looking though your camera. If you can't see anything, then you know it isnt interference. What is the exact model of your TV?

other than that, I suggest asking someone who specializes in rear projection TV repair. After it cycles though the channels, does it start over? Or does it just stay on the last channel? Have you tried unplugging the TV, leaving it unplugged for 15 mins or so, and trying again?

Video input channel stays on screen in upper left hand corner of my sony 57in hdtv rear projection

WITH AN ORIGINAL SONY REMOTE HIT THE DISPLAY BUTTON TO REMOVE THE INPUT ON SCREEN DISPLAY---IF YOU leave it on long enough it will burn that image into one or more of the 3 picture Tubes.

ALMOST ANY SONY TV REMOTE WILL WORK FOR THIS FUNCTION.

I have a sony kp-57wv600 57 inch tv. and the channel button does not work. The channel button on the tv and the remote does not work. When I hit the channel button all that happens is the tv flickers but...

The first thing to do is to rescan for channels. If for some reason the channel memory got wiped out, there could be no other "available" channels to change to. The "flicker" you see is the TV changing to the same channel. Try the rescan and update this if that does not resolve the problem. Let's eliminate the simple stuff first. If the rescan DOES resolve the problem, please update this with that information as well and we will try to find out what cleared out the channel memory.

Thanks,
Dan

My rca won't pick up channels when doing a channel search.

It sounds like you need to auto program the chanels on your t.v. There should be an opition in your menu. If there is not something called auto program or channel manager it my be in your set-up menu. I hope this helps.

Auto SAP

The problem is not a cable one, but a TV function. Pull out your user manual for your TV. My dad just had this happen, and he has a Sony WEGA TV. The auto sap is an AUTO Secondary Audio Program, you need to find the menu to back out of it.

Good luck.

I do not see any reference on this problem and I even checked with Sony. If you are on a cable box, I suspect that is the problem.
