Slimtype Combo LSC-24082K

I got your solution but unfortunately eMachines has no updates for software and/or firmware for me to download. I've already tried.

I also tried to get the firmware from the maker of this drive LiteOn but when I tried to install it I got this error message:

No Match drive detected!
This utility is only for slimtype combo LSC-24082K

Detected drives:
1-0-0-0 Slimtype combo LSC-24082K

It is the same thing right?!?

Since I can't get the updated firmware/software, then should I go ahead and do the rest of what you said? And if so, how do I save my firmware? I didn't understand your instructions. I've posted your email below:

This will Fixya

Go here and select your computer model and select firmware update for the drive, download and save to the desktop.
Go here and Get the Firmware flash Save to the desktop
Go here and Get flash fix Save to the desktop

Step 1: Make a backup copy of your current firmware. You can do so using LtnFW. you should make this backup incase you decide that you want to undo the firmware flash, you will need a backed up firmware.

Step 2:The firmware flasher is checking your drive and seeingthat you have an OEM model and is thus refusing to flash it. FlashFixwill patch the firmware flasher so that it will agree to flash your drive.

Step 3: After using FlashFix, run the flasher, make sure that you select the correct drive from the drop-down list, and flash.
.

Please rate this a fixya

Also,If you have more than one burner program, you may need to remove some.( for example Roxio don't work well with Nero )

Like I said before, I only know enough about computers to be dangerous!!!!!!!!! I have no idea where to find my currently installed firmware (or even what it would be named, what file, etc) let alone save a backup.

I'm a smart girl but you have to understand that I don't work on computers. I've just spent a lot of time trying to figure out my own but that is the extent of it.

Please talk to me like I know nothing. I don't want to ruin my computer by doing the wrong thing.

It gives me an error message when I try to open the 'flashfix' and 'flash' programs. It says: 'the compressed folder is invalid or corrupted'. I tried to download again and got the same error message.

I need to take the plastic face off of a lsc-24082K slimline cd-rom/dvd-rom drive. I have an Emachine M6410 laptop. I am scared to break any plastic tabs by removing. How do I do it safely?

After you have downloaded the firmware update above, the Firmware flash utility, and the FlashFix and saved them all to the desk top.Run the firmware flash utility in step 1.(and follow the directions) (after you run it and make your back up,move on to step 2), Run flashfix in step 2 (and follow the directions)After you have completed steps 1 and 2 move onto the flash,(just click on the update firware file on you desktop and run it.(follow the directions n the screen)

Note: Firmware flash utility =LtnFw (use it for the backUp)

Step 1: Make a backup copy of your current firmware. You can do so using LtnFW. you should make this backup incase you decide that you want to undo the firmware flash, you will need a backed up firmware.

Note: FlashFix=flash fix

Step 2:The firmware flasher is checking your drive and seeingthat you have an OEM model and is thus refusing to flash it. FlashFix will patch the firmware flasher so that it will agree to flash your drive.
Note: Flash=The firmware file you downloaded

Step 3: After using FlashFix, run the flasher, make sure that you select the correct drive from the drop-down list, and flash

I hope this better explains the steps

Ok,Just skip the backup,Download the programs using the provided links and run the program called "FlashFix"

Once that has completed,It will allow for the firmware file,(FROM THE FIRMWARE LINK)To be ran on your computer. Now you can run the firmware,Just double click it and install.Restart computer.

    1. Run FlashFix (this just allows the drive to accept the firmware)

    2. Run Firmware file.(This is the firmware)

    3. Restart computer.

I have an R4i.cn (R4i) card, and it just won't seem to work whenever I download any kernel/or system software. I've tried many different types of software from the websites and others outside of...

Unfortunately the R4iCN card is a fake, and if you've updated your console to the latest 1.4.2 or 1.4.3 firmwares it's unlikely to work. Check out R4 DS Revolution Cards at www.r4dsrevolutioncards.com (info site) to differentiate between different versions of R4i cards and make sure you buy a genuine one!

A lot of the fakes will indeed work when you buy them but as soon as you update your console they'll stop working. Make sure you buy a real one in the future to avoid frustration!

Good luck!

Hi,

Please go here and download the live update from Samsung. This software is designed to automatically update you to the latest firmware via the internet. To get this service, customers have to install the Firmware LiveUpdate program on their computers.

Please download the live update full version if you have not used this software before. See link.

Simply follow the instructions as given and your software will be updated to the latest version required to run your CD/DVD writer with your computer.

Hope this helps. If so please do leave a vote for the solution. Thanks.

My acer travelmate 240 wont read cd's anymore. been in device manager and on dvd/cd-rom drives it has a ! slimtype COMBO LSC - 24082K

It is a pretty common fault when drive can not read one type - cds or dvds. That means you have to replace the drive. Price of the drive is not that high so that makes no sense to try to fix it. Cheapest I guess would be eBay (from what I see right now 20 dollars including delivery) but also there are plenty of on-line stores. Just use your favorite search engine to find the drive or simply go to the closest computer repair place and tell them that you want the drive replaced.
