Question about Lenovo 3000 N200 Notebook

1 Answer

BIOS Flash failed

Got a STOP error with Windows XP (SP3) on my Lenovo 3000 N200 0769. Microsoft recommended installing a new BIOS, checked Lenovo site and version 3.3 from Phoenix was available. Mine was at version 1.05. Followed the instructions to download and flash the BIOS...used the Phoenix utility. Now the system will not load Windows, gets as far as the first two blue "running lights", flashes a blue screen, and goes to the boot options. I backed up the old bios but how can I restore it if windows won't load?

Bunnydawg, tried tapping the F8 but no difference,
Harrel, will try and find the driver CD, but I think it is in San'a, Yemen (seriously) and I'm not at the moment

Managed to get recovery disks from friend, turns out that the MBR was corrupted, don't know if it is a fault or a coincidence. have fixed the problem permanently (original STOP and all) by loading Ubuntu 8.04, stayed with 3.03 of the BIOS. Install of Ubuntu was easier than going back to XP SP2, then updating to SP3 and reloading all the patches etc. Thanks to Harrel and Bunnydawg.

Then cause ;

This issue occurs because the Wups2.dll file that is included in the latest version of Windows Update is not installed correctly.

For scenario 1, the registry entries that correspond to the Wups2.dll file are missing after the repair install of Windows XP. The release version of Windows XP does not contain the Windows Update software.

For scenario 2, the registry entries that correspond to Windows Update are changed back to the Windows XP SP2 version if you did not restart the computer before you install Windows XP SP3. The registry entries for the Wups2.dll file are changed to pointing to the Wups.dll file that is included in the release version of Windows XP SP2.

My audio device is not working. so i want to sound driver for it.

Hello,
You can download all the drivers you need for Lenovo 3000 Y410 Laptop from the below link
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68104.html#audio

Just scroll down the page for Audio drivers for both win XP and Vista, click on the blue version number to download the one you want.

Note : Incase you have win XP,some people has issues installing the xp driver with sp3 installed, the driver seems to work with only sp1 and sp2.So if u have SP3 and unable to install xp driver, do one of the following.
1) Uninstall SP3 and install SP2 and then try installing the driver for XP
2) Download Vista driver and install it with windows compatibility mode set to XP SP2.

Sound missing

first of all xp is no longer supported by Microsoft.

But, if one wants to use it, they should use the original disc with key and install it from scratch, then do all of the automatic updates to it.

Preferably, go up to SP3 on it while it is connected to the Internet.

Then, the proper sound driver should be installed, automatically, and it should work as before.

If not, then maybe try to download the latest driver for your computer from the vendor's website.

Xp service pack 3 key

Hi,

There is no "key" for SP3, its just an update.

Just click on the start menu and perform a Windows/Microsoft Update to install SP3 and then perform another update to update SP3.

Try reinstalling the driver of your sound card. Then restart your computer. Some audio card failed to recognize certain function that is why you need to reinstall their drivers just to refresh the functionality of the device.

Lenovo G450 failed to identify the audio drivers in xp

You have not installed microsoft UAA bus driver, without this conexant can't be installed.
This is not available on Lenovo official site, however you can download this
from hp site.

url is ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33867.exe

This works on many notebooks including Lenovo G450.
First, install this driver, if any error is shown then ignore it, then install
conexant audio driver and restart.

Cant start computer

Try this:
1. Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the
boot order in the system BIOS. Check your system documentation
for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.

2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the
options below This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

3. Press Enter to start the Windows Setup.

do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the
Recovery Console, press R", (you do not want to load Recovery
Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP
installation using the Recovery Console, press R".

4. Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing
Windows installations.

5. Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and
press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options,
read the Warning listed later!!

6. Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot.

When your system reboots, Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears.
Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your
applications and settings will remain intact.
