Optimus lab 1100 turntable

I bought this years ago and have never opened it. I can't find the instructions. I want to connect it to my lenovo thinkpad and then listen to a vinyl record and ultimately copy to put on ipod or burn to cd.
I know very little about computers but once someone tells or shows me what to do I am usually ok

Thank you. I now have it set up but don't have sound on the pc.

  • rainsfordcla Feb 01, 2009

Can you suggest how I can get the sound through the PC?

The turntable power output is swithced on and I've tried connecting to both the microphone and the headphones.

Is there a program I need to open first or do I need software for the PC to input from the turntable?

should be hooked up to line in... it's the centre plug in on the sound card... make sure that is not muted in the sound control

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

the turntable speed is incorrect
adjust with the speed control setting
many quality turn tables have bar codes around the outside edge and when viewed under a light those bars appear to be stationary when the correct table speed is set
It is a strobe affect in time with the frequency of the light

If you have difficulty lifting the platter off, raise it as far as you can and gently tap the spindle with a sift-faced hammer.

Connect optimus lab 1100 to macbook

The type of computer is not relevant. This turntable provides output at nominal "line level" and can be connected to your MacBook with a properly shielded audio cable through the audio input.

For best results, you might want to disable automatic-gain-control (AGC) in the "Sound" preferences pane in the "System Preferences" panel, and set the level manually such that the input does not overload.

As I mentioned above, the signal level is nominally "line level", and that can mean very different things depending on context. You might find that using a passive volume control (potentiometer) between the turntable and the computer's analog-to-digital converter can greatly improve the quality of sound.

Optimus lab 1100 truntable will not operate.

this is a belt driven platter. the belt is old and fell off. http://www.archive.org/details/Turntable_Belt_Installation

this link shows how to replace a belt, once you see where the belt goes thread a piece of string through the mechanism where the belt should go and measure it and contact them with the length. or measure total length of the old belt if still in one piece. figure about $14 for most belts.

Optimus lab 1100 Turntable won't turn!

The mechanics in your arm postion is throwing the switch. A mechanical postion switch has sliped out of postion, a arm from the toner arm post has moved to an encorrect postion, or if your turntable has a multi-album play abilty your 'next to play record' post postion sensor switch is out of postion. Last or first is your belt could fool ya. Your belt may have a weak spot on it in turn no friction underload.
