White line in the center of my screen

Hello I got an IMAC computer and everytime I turn it on It has a white line in the center of the screen and it stays there,I run the mouse over it but it doesnt show the pointer it goes behind the line it's like a 2 inch wide white bar line just there can you give me any suggestions please ..thank you..
p.s I tried degaussing it but the button is nowhere to be seen and it's running on Tiger software,,

My imac 21.5 10.6.6 doesnt starts up it freezes on the white screen w. the apple and the loading bar or circle!

Try turning on the computer while holding down Command+Option+P+R until you hear the boot tone twice.

If you still have the installation disks, try doing a reformat hoping its a driver error. But, sounds to me it may be something wrong with your panel. Take it in the genius bar to get it looked at.

I have a white line vetically down the middle of my screen

This is a problem with your screen caused by excessive use, not turning the computer off or not allowing the display to sleep. More lines will appear if you continue treating it as you have; go into System Preferences --> Energy Saver and change the Display Sleep time to be shorter, like 15 minutes or so and check the "Automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep" box. Hopefully it will not get worse or you can live with lines on the screen, otherwise you will need to replace the screen which could cost roughly half or more of the cost of the actual Desktop.

If You want to make it yourself and You nave iSight model - be prepared to fighting with disassembling, it's not so easy and more - after assembling You can get it non-operate. Best way is a service center. But if You're sure - I can email You disassembling manual. Sincerely.

Turn mac on, get white screen, have to turn on/off for ages

try re-installing os, it looks more like RAM issue.

White vertical line going through my IMAC screen

The line is an indication that there is a failure in the display, most times the failure will be limited to the line you see but occasionally the problem will spread, causing more lines. the only way to fix it is to have the display replaced.
