Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My electrolux ewf 1495 front loader will not turn on.

After doing a few loads of washing this morning and the machine working fine, I emptied the machine and noticed that the LCD display was blank. I turned the dial to off and turned it back on. Nothing happened....the power point is working, I have tested it with another appliance and it worked fine.
I have left the machine off for a while and came back to switch it on again but same problem, it's like it's not turned on.
As it's the weekend I'm unable to contact a service repairer.
Is there something I could try, or should I wait until I can contact the service repairer?
Thankyou!

hi there I have a Electrolux EW1495 and the same thing happened after only 2years and 4 months old. The electronic control board was stuffed, too expensive to fix so I am about to buy another brand! We have had leaking problems with this Electrolux model as well and the door locks and wont open, **** wouldnt recommend it.

It appears your timer/controller has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Our electrolux front loader Washing Machine EWF 1083 won't fill with water and there is a humming sound, does anyone know what the problem is ? cheers

Just a long shot - it may be the water inlet filter is blocked? normally there is a little mesh filter in the hose that screws onto the back - check that its not full of crap. This happened to me only a few weeks ago hope its as simple as that for you.

OK, first remove the rear access panel. You will see a drain boot going from the tub to the pump. You will need to remove that boot and inside is a filter that you need to clean out. Reassemble and run a load and let me know what happens.

My electrolux ewf 1481 front loader wont spin

Open the flap, bottom right of the front panel and check the filter is clear. Most machines will not spin until they have expelled all the water. You may want to check the hose is not block and any connections to the sink if it's not on a standpipe.
Most new machines have quite sensitive out of balance detection so if it an odd load try again but add a few extra items to allow the machine to distribute the load evenly prior to spin. Hope this helps
