Here is a link to a very good explanation: http://www.genave.com/dtmf.htm

Typically in radio we see DTMF used two ways:

1) To turn a device on and off. Such as irrigation systems on a golf course. The golf course groundskeeper can simply use the DTMF keypad on his radio to type in the appropriate code to turn the sprinklers on or off.

2) When linked with the appropriate repeater and equipment, it can be linked to a land line telephone system, and then make and receive calls.

What model mobile motorola radios and motorola HT1000 portables are narrowband capable?

Most Motorola portables manufactured during the past five years or so are capable of being programmed for narrowband operation. A definite exception is the Saber which is strictly a wideband radio.

The narrowband-capable versions of the HT1000 have a model number ending in "DN." Some of the previous models ending in "CN" may or may not be narrowband-capable.

Some HT1000 are programmable to narrowband, while sadly others will need to be retired. See your local Motorola dealer for more details.

I FOUND A MOTORALA HT1000 ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IT IS PROGRAMMED FOR A COMPANY HOW DO I UN PROGRAM IT

The HT1000 is dealer programmable only. You should take the HT1000 to the nearest Motorola dealership and turn it in. It is likely they will be able to return the radio to its rightful owner.

I have the motorola ht1000 with telephone key pad. How or were can i get a manual on this radio? How dose this key pad work? Thank you, Jon Z

The keypad is a dtmf pad. When used with the appropriate communications systems it can be used to make phone calls, and/or turn things on or off. Many times you see these used in irrigation to turn water on and off remotely.

As for a manual, we could not immediately locate one on line. Here is the part number 6881079C50

I have a motorola Ht 1000 i need to no how to program it with the keypad only...

The HT1000 is not keypad programmable. The HT1000 is dealer programmable using a radio interface box (RIB), cable, the appropriate Motorola propietary software. A sister radio named the JT1000 can be made keypad programmable with an accessory called a programming key.

Best regards.

Programing Motorola HT1000

The HT1000 is a dealer programmable unit. The DTMF keypad on the front of the unit would be nonfunctional unless you were using it in conjunction with a repeater system which allows for DTMF phone capabilities. Otherwise it is just an extra place for dust, dirt and moisture to get in the radio. If you are working as a firefighter, it is highly recommended you get a holster to cover the front of the radio to prevent moisture from getting to the component board through the keypad area. As for telling if the radio is VHF or UHF, typically the 4th digit of the model number will tell you. If it is an R it is UHF; if it is a K it is VHF. I bought a motorola ht1000 from a yard sale and i would like to know what the # bottons on the front and the three on the bottom like a phone and the rcl and sto thank you ken

You are describing a DTMF key pad. Here is a link to a good description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DTMF

It is basically a telephone style keypad which emits the standard tone sounds, and when used in conjunction with the appropriate system can make phone calls, or turn equipment on and off. A good example would be an irrigation system at a golf course. Many time the golf course manager can control the on and off of the irrigation system from the keypad on his radio.

The other buttons on your HT1000 are programmable buttons, and there function depends on what they were programmed to originally. It could be scan, high/low power, or one of several other choices.

I need to learn how to program my motorola HT 1000 that has a number pad on the fron.

You cannot program the radio from the DTMF keypad. The HT1000 is only programmable by an authorized dealer or person with a subscription to the software. It also requires a programming cable and RIB (radio interface box).

HT1000

Hi bonkuman,

To my knowledge the Motorola HT1000 is not a trunk system radio, it is as a "conventional" 16 channels two-way radio. Motorola classifies this radio as intended for Government & Enterprise. In my country, we call them "Commercial" radios as oppose to "Amateur" radios. In a way, yes they may be termed "professional" as their claimed performance and durability exceeds those of other radios. Incidentally, the Motorola HT1000 has been discontinued and was replaced with the PR1500.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
