Question about Philips GoGear SA5285/37 Digital Media Player
I've had my device for about a year and this is the first time i've updated my music on it and i was trying to just wipe all the music off it and start over again and while i had like only 20 or so songs deleted i would hilight more songs to delete and it would say they were deleting and then it would turn to like 17 errors at the bottom and i kept on trying to delete and the errors kept building up so i disconnected the device and it wiped all the music off. So i tried to put my music on again and it keeps turning to errors again and not syncing to the device!! Plus i just tried to look on my device and see if it erased all my pictures off and my videos off and it froze at the main screne on videos!!
please help me!!
The file system is likely corrupted and the cause of your woes. The fix lies with the Philips Songbird software. If you do not have Songbird, download it for Windows or Mac here:http://www.usa.philips.com/c/mp3-media-player/22126/cat/en/#/difference/philipssongbird.
Once you have Songbird installed, launch it and select "Repair my Philips device" in the Tools menu. Select your device and follow the instructions specific to your device. For example, instructions for the GoGear Vibe are to disconnect the device, power it down completely, and hold the volume-up key during and after USB connection until the message window disappears.
If the repair utility endlessly indicates it is checking for updates, you are likely using an out-of-date version of Songbird - probably the one that came with your GoGear. If this describes your situation, launch Songbird and select "Check for updates" in the Help menu. This will at least get you upgraded to version 1.9 (currently), even though the latest version is 1.11 (currently).
Instructions that came with some older versions for connecting GoGear in repair mode were incomplete. They left out a crucial step of turning off the GoGear and waiting for it to power down completely before reconnecting in repair mode. Newer versions of Songbird include the ability to reformat the device, reset the device, and to get progress updates during synchronization.

Once you delete any key system files off this player it is done - call Philips to see if you are still in-warranty.
These newer Philips players are a step backwards - it is too easy to delete system files along with songs.
