hi thanks for your reply, would you advise me to bring the remote along with the head unit to check?? or should I get a new remote instead. I was there when they tested it in other home theater units and every key is working..

hi MakikiChris, you know what actually happened, I was tired of going back to the service center and just let the component sit and when I was about to bring it to the service center today (what a coincidence) it just started to work.. I'm gonna observe this and will post you for updates, thanks a lot... :-)

Did you drop off your remote for service, or did you physically see them demonstrate proper operation? If you were not there when it was tested, you're unable to attest that it did work for them. However, if you were there and saw it perform properly, you may have damaged it on your way home. Typical remotes work via IR, and IR breakdowns are not particular as to what key will be defective..in other words, it works or it doesn't. However, some major high-end components use RF remotes, and may be subject to all types of interference that modern homes emit.

I would definately return to the service ctr. again, and bring along the player so that they're able to test YOUR remote through YOUR system. Generally, remotes are pretty robust, and it would take quite a jolt to crack a board. I have a feeling that your IC board within the player itself may be in need of replacement, in which case, I would think it would be under warranty.....after all..ya can't break the ic board unless ya broke something a wee bit more obvious on the outside too....good luck.

Okay baju...thank you for your follow up, and please update if/when there are changes and/or certain resolution. (sounds like the remote was just mad at you) Hmmm, after typing that, maybe your batteries were low, and when left to sit and rest, now has temporary ample energy to operate......hmmmm Nah...That just makes too much sense, let's stick with "the remote was just mad at you"....okay my friend, I look forward to your future update.

I had a IRC 550 starchoice remote and it ran my panasonic home theater system but quit working so I purchased a IRC 551 and couldn't get it to run the audio Shaw suggested i try a ir 600 remote and I found...

SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE=irc 551

If your home entertainment device does not respond to

the Star Choice IRC 551 IR and Star Choice URC 551 IR/

UHF Remote Controls after trying all of the codes listed

for your brand, or if your brand is not listed at all, try

searching for your code.

For example, to search for a code for your TV:

1. Turn on your TV.

7. To search for the codes of your other devices,

repeat steps 1 through 5, but substitute the

appropriate key (e.g., AUX, DVD, AUD, or SAT)
for the device you are searching for.

The remote isn't working at all with the home theater system. The tv is also a samsung i disconnected everything and reconnected but the problem still exist. any ideas of what i should do?

First of all, what is the remote control that you're using?

If you are using the remote control that came with the HTS unit and it's not working with the home theater, press the DVD RECEIVER button. That should work.

If not try this. Take out the batteries on the remote control and hold down the POWER button (without the batteries!!).

Hope this helps!
