Blurry image is usually due to either a bad picture tube or failure of a part in the monitor called the flyback transformer. Both of these parts can go bad with age and use, and this is a pretty old monitor now. It is not worth trying to repair this; a new 17 or 19-inch flat screen is pretty inexpensive these days.

The microphone is wired to a connector on the back of the monitor which has a little symbol of a microphone by it. You connect this to the microphone jack on your computer. You can use the same kind of cable you would use to connect the sound output from the computer to a set of speakers. Once you plug in that cable just make sure the microphone is turned on in Windows and you're set to talk.

If this doesn't answer what you wanted to know, please add a comment with any other questions, and please take a moment to rate tis solution if it's been helpful. Thanks for using Fixya!

Everytime i put a picture for the background on the desktop it doesnt come out clear its all fuzzy/blurry anyone know what's happenin?

It's because your resolution(size) of your desktop is larger than the resolution(size) of the picture. If for example you are running a resolution of 1280x1024 then a picture with the dimentions of 1280x1024 would fit perfectly and not be stretched. See my tip on setting the desktop background here for further details: http://www.fixya.com/support/r6775332-change_desktop_background_image

If you want a smaller image to be centered and not stretched then right click on your desktop and go to Properties. Then click on the Desktop tab. To the middle right there is a heading that says Position. Click the little selection to Center. This will center a smaller image instead of making it all blurry and stretched.

Does the Hp w1907 have a built in monitor microphone? If so, how do I activate it for an online meeting?

I'm sorry but it does not. I also wanted to find this out a long time ago. If you use skype or some other type of chatting. It will only output what is happening on the computer like watching a video or anything else. The only possible way for you to make a cheap and inexpensive mic is using the headphones that you have, and put them in the microphone slot in you PC and or Laptop.

Icons are blurry

Did it happen all of a sudden? In other words, was it OK before?

Try going to screen preferences, settings, and look at the resolution slider - is it set to the native resolution of your monitor (1280x1024)? If not, correct and accept changes.

If the resolution is set OK, then multiple other things might have happened, but not knowing a bit more about the situation it's hard to advise anything...

Blurry monitor

The monitor is going bad. It can be serviced but the cost to fix or adjust is not worth it. You may be able to adjust it yourself but A) you need to know what you are doing and B) Accept the risk of completly ruining the monitor or even worse electricuting yourself by accidentialy touching one of the high voltage circuits. A carry in service repair shop will charge about $125.00 to $200.00 to fix it. A new LCD flatscreen is a much better choice it will cost the same or less and will pay you back in time just from the energy savings. My condolences.

My ViewSonic 17GA mic is not workin it is inbuilt on screen??

Hello, and sorry to hear about your problems with the View Sonic Monitor
First thing is, do you have a tester or some way to check continuity ?
It is not hard to pull the jack connection from the wire.
The mic leads are the first to go, if you are moving the Monitor around allot.
If you can Ohm the mic jack out, it will tell you weather or not you have a connection to the mic.
If not, you would be better to replace the jack and or cable.
I be-leave this is a standard 8mm male jack and can be found at radio shack.
Before going thru all this trouble, I would find another mic to test the PC connection. This way, you are sure the problem is at the monitor and not the audio input jack
Let me know how it works for you, the monitor is easy to dissemble and the repair is fairly easy.
Hope this information is of help to you.

Readers, please rate your technician, even if you do not agree, that lets the technician know, he is not waisting his time.
Thanks.

Dell UltraScan P1110 flat-screen monitor BLURRY?

The button you pressed is the reset button and according to the documentaton "returns the monitor to factory defaults".

Here's a link to the Dell support page for your monitor:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/p1110/En/index.htm

Regarding the lines that were orginally were trying to fix; see Damper Wires in Troubleshooting in the above documentation and you'll see that they're a fact of life with this type of monitor. I realize this may not have been your problem, but then again...

I'm surprised that the factory reset made things blurry. Usually this is the result of less than optimum settings on the display adapter in your computer rather than the monitor itself. The Trouble Shooting guide says the brightness and contrast being set too high can cause this so that may be worth checking.

I think you should check your display adapter settings after you try the Troubleshooting suggestions. On the desktop of your computer right click in an empty spot and select Properties. Click on the Settings tab and see what the resolution is. If it's not 1280x1024 you might want to try that. Everything on the screen may suddenly appear smaller so don't be surprised. I would also check the monitor frequency. This will probably be found under Advanced. Every display adapter is different so I can't tell you exactly where to look, just polk around. If you start changing things you may want to write down the original settings so you can at least get back to where you started if there's a problem.

Lastly, I want you to know I'm not paid to provide these suggestions. I know it's a strange hobby, but I like helping when I can. If you find this helpful I hope you'll take a moment and provide a positive rating. About half of the solutions I've posted have never been rated... Thanks and good luck.
