Question about Pioneer Dolby Digital 5.1, Pro Logic II and DTS Surround Home Theater System, HTP-2700 System

1 Answer

Cd stalls ,won't play unless I advance cd.

I have cleaned the laser head & have adjusted the height as well , is there a specific height for the laser in order for it to read the cd ? or is this just a common problem with this model ? I have had this problem for quite some time and has just gotten worst recently.

My Philips HTS3541/f7 5.1 will not read blu rays or dvds how can this be corrected?

I think if you try a CD disc, you will find that disc will play. The Optical Pickup(laser) has worn out of specification. There are actually 3 lasers in the unit; a CD, DVD and Blu Ray lasers. They are all use different wavelengths of light, so one laser cannot cover all 3 wavelengths. Unfortunately, you will need a new pickup. Again, try the CD. I'm 90% sure it will play fine, unless the pickup is covered in dust(like my house :-(. If you would like more information, or would like to inquire about having your Philips repaired, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

Hi, we a Sony DAV-HDX500 System and will not play DVD, it continously says

In most cases when the CD does not play it is possible that the optical head is a suspect. Sometimes it might pick up ordinary audio CD but will not play other formats. This indicates that the optical head is weak and so there is no detection or scanning of the CD. If the optical is working the tracks will be read immediately but with no scanning the laser head can be defective.
The main motor will not work in some cases as unless the tracks are read the drive motor will not work with signal from the processor. Also in some cases the central motor base can shift and so the distance to the disc can be more resulting in low detection. You can pull up the spindle to come closer.
Sometimes certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it will not be read and so will reject. Hence it is ideal to manually clean the laser head eye using a cleaning swap /cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.
If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault.

My RCA RTD317 has problems recognizing most DVD movie disks. It will play some disks most of the time and all audio disks, so I figure the lasers are working. What could be the problem?

If you've tried cleaning the Laser with a Lens Cleaner Disk or directly with Lens Cleaner Fluid and a QTip without any improvement then the Laser is Failing.

It takes less power to read some DVDs than others and a lot less power to read an Audio CD. The Laser will continue to deteriorate until it won't play anything.

I have made several attempts to play a disc on my JVC TH-V70. IT reads 'reading' on the dvd unit then after a few second the disc ejects. Why is this happening?

Hi Adrienne - If it only happens to the one DVD it is most likely a problem with the DVD being damaged or dirty.

If it's happening with all your DVDs your player laser lens is probably dirty or it might be damaged. If no discs are being read get yourself a CD/DVD cleaning disc and run it a couple of times (following the directions). Of this doesn't work you will have to decide if the player is worth the price of a repair (unless it's still under warranty). Most aren't as you can buy decent players for less than $50. Any repair will cost at least that.

If it is the one disc I suggest you take a clean soft cloth and wet it slightly with plain water and the give it a few strokes across the disc (not in circles), let it try dry for a few minutes and try it again. Also examine the disc (bottom) for any obvious scratches or stuck on gunk.

Good Luck and thanks for using Fix Ya.

Wont stop reading "no disc" on the display even

If it will play a CD but not a DVD then it could be the Laser is failing. If it won't play either then its more than likely that the Laser has failed.

First thing though is to try cleaning it with a Lens Cleaning DVD.

If after this it still won't recognized a DVD you need to remove the Main Cover followed by the DVD Tray cover. You can then clean the lens directly with some lens cleaner fluid and a QTip. Make sure you only use a little cleaner fluid and wipe off with a dry QTip. Do not touch the lens with your fingers.

After you've reassembled the unit if you still have the same fault then the Laser has failed and would require replacing, although this is not normally cost effective.

Please leave feedback

Cheers

Dvd disc not reading

Is it just that disk or are all the discs not reading?? If it is just that disc try cleaning the disc with a lint free soft towel. Also is the disc a factory dvd or a burnt copy of media. Some dvd players will not play certain re-write discs some play DVD-R and some play DVD+R and some will play both ... good luck

I have some trouble with my cd player in my Kit 100 system. It only play's a few CD now would you be so kind to provide me with the latest firmware for the KEF KIT100 system? thanks in advance Richard

First clean the laser head with a Qtip and alcohol. It gotta be perfectly clean, so wipe with fresh brand name qtip and make sure there is not a single dust particle on it. You gotta remove the cabinet with star screwdriver. Your beam might be tired. First try with the clean up!

Wont play cd

I would suggest trying some sort of laser cleaning device. You can pick one up at Target or Wal*Mart. How it works is there are a few small brushes on what looks like a normal CD. When you insert this into your CD player, the brushes run over the laser head and remove dust and other particles from it. This can help when discs are unreadable, or if there is static while trying to play a disc. Hope this helps!
