Question about Vehicle Parts & Accessories
I just bought a used 04 buick rendezvous with code alarm installed. I've read all I could find on code alarm but the remote start won't start the vehicle. I see the lights flash twice with a quick click each time and then nothing. And what is the 'key' symbol for on the code alarm remote? I was given 2 remotes, one for the keyless entry and one for the code alarm. The red disable switch in the vehicle is not activated. Not sure if I'm missing something or if I should just have someone check it out.
Whoever hooked up your system did not hook up the factory alarm disarm and arm wires. Your car thinks it is being stolen as a result of this. You need to get a wire diagram of your car and hook up the proper wires.

No you do not need to scrap anything. Most of the starters at www.directwholesale.net will work with everything you have installed. Also its a good idea to leave all that stuff in anyway as it will take away from the resale value when you go to sell it. Most of the new remote starters will take place of the factory remote anyway so you will only need to carry one (provided you get the one that has all the features on it). If you get the cheapest one out there, you would still carry the factory remote as well (which is what I do myself). I would personally leave all the factory Honda System in and get the cheapest starter out there. Seems like this would 1.) be the best bang for the buck and 2.) not take away from the value of the vehicle since nothing would be removed. Thank you for using FixYa. Good luck to you!

1. Close all doors.
2. Press and hold the Unlock button on door lock switch on drivers door.
Hold until instructed to release.
3. Insert and remove key from ignition 2 times. Do Not turn ignition.
4. Insert key in ignition a third time and leave key in ignition. Do Not turn ignition.
5. Release door lock switch on drivers door panel.
A Chime will sound 3 times indicating that you are in programming mode.
6. Press both the Lock and Unlock buttons on the remote up to 30 seconds.
A chime will sound 2 times if remote has programmed successful.
7. Repeat step 6 if you are programming additional remotes.
8. Remove key from ignition to exit programming mode.

You can take the car to the dealer and he can reprogram the remote for you. Or you can buy the programming instructions for $9.95 from here: http://www.keylessride.com/order/programming_post.asp?lbfix=yes&make=Scion&remoteyear=2005&model=tC&frid=76C74C4F
You will need a working key to reprogram your remote.

SOURCE: car starter not working
look under the dash for a small silver toggle switch....this is a disable switch for the remote start portion of the system..you may have kicked it / bumped it with your foot, causing the remote start portion to be deactivated. Just flip the switch the opposite way and try again..
Also, there may have been a pin style switch installed under the hood...Check to see if it is bent or broken, if it is, simply disconnect it and insulate the wire that was going to it.
This wire is used as a safety to keep the vehicle from remote starting while the hood is up..to keep people from being injured if the remote start is activated while the engine is being worked on.
Have whatever shop installed the system replace your pinswitch if that is the problem.
