Remote starter not 'starting'

I just bought a used 04 buick rendezvous with code alarm installed. I've read all I could find on code alarm but the remote start won't start the vehicle. I see the lights flash twice with a quick click each time and then nothing. And what is the 'key' symbol for on the code alarm remote? I was given 2 remotes, one for the keyless entry and one for the code alarm. The red disable switch in the vehicle is not activated. Not sure if I'm missing something or if I should just have someone check it out.

SOURCE: Viper remote starter sets off alarm.

Whoever hooked up your system did not hook up the factory alarm disarm and arm wires. Your car thinks it is being stolen as a result of this. You need to get a wire diagram of your car and hook up the proper wires.

SOURCE: How to add remote starter to existing keyless entry/alarm system

No you do not need to scrap anything. Most of the starters at will work with everything you have installed. Also its a good idea to leave all that stuff in anyway as it will take away from the resale value when you go to sell it. Most of the new remote starters will take place of the factory remote anyway so you will only need to carry one (provided you get the one that has all the features on it). If you get the cheapest one out there, you would still carry the factory remote as well (which is what I do myself). I would personally leave all the factory Honda System in and get the cheapest starter out there. Seems like this would 1.) be the best bang for the buck and 2.) not take away from the value of the vehicle since nothing would be removed. Thank you for using FixYa. Good luck to you!

You can take the car to the dealer and he can reprogram the remote for you. Or you can buy the programming instructions for $9.95 from here:

You will need a working key to reprogram your remote.

SOURCE: car starter not working

look under the dash for a small silver toggle switch....this is a disable switch for the remote start portion of the may have kicked it / bumped it with your foot, causing the remote start portion to be deactivated. Just flip the switch the opposite way and try again..
Also, there may have been a pin style switch installed under the hood...Check to see if it is bent or broken, if it is, simply disconnect it and insulate the wire that was going to it.
This wire is used as a safety to keep the vehicle from remote starting while the hood is keep people from being injured if the remote start is activated while the engine is being worked on.
Have whatever shop installed the system replace your pinswitch if that is the problem.

How do you know it doesn't work? Are you sure you understand the operation of the system? It is passive nothing happens unless someone opens a door without a key like breaking windows or they try to start the car with wrong key.

04 buick rendezvous 3400 engine cuts out at 4000 rpm but does not stall

You need to put a scanner on it and read the output trouble code. You probably have a problem with a coil pack. but to determine that you need to see if there is any codes set in the computer.

You need to install the power wire and the ignition wire on the alarm . Most alarms draw power from the thick power wire some have a small power wire and Small ignition wire input that needs to be hooked up also. Only ignition one needs to be hooked up.
