Question about Routers

I cannot connect to port 3997

I have just moved into a new flat with a new internet service provider (x-net). I use the voice chat program Ventrilo on a daily basis, using the IP 202.60.88.170 and the port 3997. With my new internet service provider I cannot connect to port 3997. I attempted to connect to this channel using my flatmate's computer and it did not work, so i know it is not a problem with my computer. I successfully connected to another server that Ventrilo provides, so i know it is not a problem with the program. I ran a tracer prgram and was sucessfully able to connect to the sever, but when i ran a telnet to attempt to connect to the server and the port, i could not do so. I contacted my ISP and told them of my problem and they say that it is not an issue on their side as they do not block this port. They suggested it is an issue with the modem or router. I do not know how to solve this problem, I am extremely frustrated and at my wit's end. Does anyone know why I cannot connect to this port, and what I need to do to be able to connect to it?

I would first try to connect to other ventrilo servers on other ports. Make sure it's not your vent program. Next I would make sure you are not having issue with your windows firewall or a third-party firewall (Symantec/Norton/McAfee etc). Disable them temporarily to test. Because you can not connect via telnet tells me something is blocking your port. How about the router/firewall? Is it new? If so, try replacing it with a known good one.

The following computer resources are required to restablish the networking experiences. First, a computer that has modern features preferably least without malfunctions. For example, complementary resources that makes the experince acheiveable includes having external computer speakers to capture and out put sound that may be communicated by members on the establishment. Also, the computer woould require a microphone to make possible voice messenger communcations. Recent computer networking innovations makes possible audio transmittion also known as voice telecommuncations that only is achievable a microphone as input device. Internet networking communcatios makes possible video conferencing only requiring for the cameras known as webcams to be attached to the computer. Acquriing from retail computer network cameras may have builtin voice recorders. Circumpectively, the hardware required to complement the computer prior to establishing messanging telecommuncations in sum are output speakers, input microphones, display capture cameras or webcameras attainable at retail. The following are networking resources required to setup the messenger. First, the computer has to have an internet connection to allow several computers that require communcitions to capture simi;ar signals. For example, internet service providers like at&t, verizon, t-mobile provides the most expedited connectivities between computers that require media transfers either as with messanger systems. Consulting with the most effective networking providers guarantees the fastest, relaible and safest networks to achieve mesanger services. Once the computer has an internet working connectivity to capture available computers within the vicinity areas either at home or office or elsewhere, the prorgam installations becomes possible. Usually the internet require a browser that allows to message between computers. For example, www.msn.com has the internet browser called internet explorer. Once displayed on the computer screen, the user searches with the spaces on the browser by typing msn messanger request to download on the computer messanger programs. The messenger program has to be dowloaded onto the computer that has the feature buttons to teleconference or telecommuncate. Prior to acquring messenger programs, contact a known person that has similar computer structures to establish the messenger program. Opon completion of the messenger download on the computer. The interneted signals are required by several persons with similar features. However, the first person to message usuing the messanger program would be the person that was informed to expect to log on their site to wait messages since a setup was underway. Assuming that several persons already have messanger services on the internet services provider that has been provided like at&t, t-mobile or version. Once the msn messenger were downloaded on the computer. The new structure has to be navigatored usually cliking the search for members or contacts to become friends or messanger buddies. Usually, persons on the mesanger network may not necessarily know each other. However, send messeges to contacts on the network requesting to become consigns. Once a membership request has been send, a wait until reply that makes assurance that commucations on friendly level would become achievable. A send messege to chat buddy on the messenger receiving a reply provide the green light to store the contact as consign for regular telecommucations. Usually the networking experince is more acheiveable when every person has cameras, voice microphones, and has computer compartibilties to prevent message impediments. Remember that the internet is a dynamic experiecne requiring hardwares, softwares, time schedules, and an exploration computer habit to achieve excitabilities. Goodluck and have fun with the experince.

I can't browse the internet or connect to online games on the two PCs in my house, but I can on my Mac. All 3 computers are connected to the same router. On my personal PC I'm able to use a voice-chat...

This could be a virus, particularly as it happenned while you were browsing. Have you got anti-virus software?

It's difficult to advise without more information, but if you are using Inernet Explorer you could try looking at Tools>Internet Options click the Connections tab then the LAN Settings button.

Have a look at the Proxy Server box (bottom half of the dialogue box). Normally the Use Proxy Server should be UNchecked (unless you are using a proxy server, which is unlikely if you are using a private home network). If the box is checked, uncheck it. Now try to connect to the internet again.

If this worked, you have a virus that will probably cause the same problem next time you reboot. You will need to run an antivirus program to remove it. Try Malwarebytes or AVG Free (google it) if you don't have antivirus on your PC.

Of course this might not be the solution, but a good first option.

I will try to help further if necessary.

Can't access voice tab on WRP400

If your wireless VoIP router was provided by your VoIP provider they will usually lock this option on the router since they have pre-configured the voice settings(sip server, phone number, password, codecs) before they deliver the device to your location. if you have a working internet connection already you can give your VoIP proiver a call so that they can remotely check the voice settings on their end to verify if it's working or not.

I had AT&T internet service with the 2-Wire wireless router (combined modem and router). You probably might have been given an installation CD but that often does not work well. You should be able to interface directly with the modem or router with your web browser possibly (http://gateway.2wire.net), and see the status of the connection, although to talk to these devices you must put in a username (usually "admin") and a password to enter the interface.

Your best bet is to actually call the technical support for the Internet service. Look on the AT&T paperwork you go with the modem or modem+router or any billing statement that show the possibly 877 number for HighSpeed Internet technical support. They will walk you through step-by-step until you get your connection; listen carefully to the often heavily accented voice. It usually never fails.

Connecting a DI-524 to a DI-604

This shouldn't really be any problem simply use a short "Uplink" ethernet cable to join the routers thru the uplink port, or any port really, and that way ya should be able to wifi and access the net, set ya router that connects to the net for DCHP and disable that setting in the Wifi router and ya should be good to go?

Step 1:
Connect the Broadband modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port.
Step 2:
Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3.
Step 3:
Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
Step 4:
check if you are able to go online wired..
if not your router has to be configured first,

How can i connect to the msn messenger / google talk

I believe this may be a problem with your handheld device or handheld wireless service and not either of your broadband routers. Your particular PDA does not utilize the same wireless technology that your PCs and laptops do. Your PDA works with GSM,gprs & GPRS technologies. While laptops and PCs most commonly use 802.11a/b/g technologies. In summary, your PDA does not go to the Internet through your broadband routers. In fact, other than connectivity through bluetooth or USB, I doubt your PDA has any interaction with any devices connected to the broadband routers. Now, why can you not access certain services on your handheld? It may be that you are not connected to the right network with your service provider. It looks like this devices works on the Cingular network. There are 3 types of networks available. GSM, which is used primarily for voice traffic. gprs (note the lowercase), which is used for simple text messaging. And GPRS (note the uppercase), which handles all the other types of data transfer, including browsing the web and chatting. First, you may want to check with your service provider that you have an active plan that supports Internet surfing and chatting, such as GPRS (note the uppercase again). Second, once this has been confirmed, make sure the network indicators on the PDA show that you are connected to the GPRS (and not the GSM or gprs) network. Only when you are connected to the GPRS network, will you be able to utilize all the features of your PDA (voice calls, text messaging, and e-mail/web browsing). One way to force the PDA to get on the GPRS network is to just resset the wireless antenna. Second would be to reboot the device. If neither of those work, I would recommend contacting your service provider, as they will be able to help you trouble shoot PDA and network issues further.
