If your miele is laying all the way down like mine is and will not stand upright..look for a dark gray corrugated plastic part where the handle bends at the base. This is above the silver holed plastic filter holder. This may be stuck. I just pulled mine out and then I was able to stand it upright again. I wasn't able to put it back in but I think it is there just to cover up the inside workings of the vacuum. So I left it out.
Send it back to Dyson, they have excellent support and warranties and will fix it for you. If you tell them the problem on the phone they might even just send you the part to repair it.

They lock into that blue arm with the two holes in it. The erm is plastic and has the spring loaded latches that hold the brushes in. If the latches have failed the brushes won;t stay in. The other option is the latch pins on the brushes have brocken or worn out. Turn the machine over and try to make the brushes latch, also push the brush release buttons several time to make sure they are working. Good-luck.
