HP5550. Color ink ran out. Replaced with refilled cartridge, ink light still flashing. If I use an original cartridge this does not happen. Shop tells me cartidges are fine and proved it

some HP printers do this after a non original cartridge used The printer should still be able to operate even with the light flashing. If this does not work you may require to replace the print head.

I have an HP 5550 printer. The Ink Cartridge light continually blinks (and nothing prints) when I have both the colored and black cartridges installed. When I remove the black cartidge, it works fine and...

More than likely you have either a defective 56 (black) cartridge or it's empty. If you have Windows XP you may go to control panel and select printers and then right click to get to properties and preferences. From one of those you can get maintenance and attempt to do a clean and see if that works. If you have a cartridge refiller in your area take the cartridge to them and get it weighed....they'll know if it's empty or not by the weight. If you're lucky enough to have a kitchen scale that weighs in gms then weigh it yourself...if it's empty then it will problem be in the mid 20's vs. mid to upper 30s when it's full. EBAY has lots of 56 cartridges for sale and they will usually work just fine. The tri-color ones are more of a crapshoot.

Trying to use a re-filled ink cartridge HPf4280

I seem to recall that these cartridges are chipped and you need to get a chip resetter. Look on the base to see if a small circuit board is present. If so then you have to get it reset or buy a new cartridge.

I refilled an ink cartridge on my hp deskjet 5550 printer and now it says that my cartridge in not compatible with my printer, although it is the same one I was using before.

try cleaning the contacts
if your printer is still not recognizing the cartridges
you must replace the one with the problem
you must be very cure full with the refilling process cause the new cartridges are very sensitive if they have air inside.
you must pull all air bubbles from the spong check here how you can

Prints blank pages

did you remove the "blocking tape" (usually a blue colored film) from the ink cartridge before installing? If not, then it might have come loose blocking the contacts, remove your ink cartidge and take a look, that will most likely resolve yoru problem.
