Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Alarm button Flashing, will not perform any function

When I turn it on, it alternately flashes the 'alarm' and 'copy' button.  The screen alternately flashes 'check printer' and '6A00'.   It will not respond to any buttons, but will turn on and off.  I do not have a manual.  Any ideas?

Turn your printer on. On your computer, go to:
Start
Printers and Faxes (or Control Panel - Printers & faxes)
right click on your printer icon
click on "Printing Preferences"
in the dialog box, click on "Maintenance" tab
click on "View Printer Status"
in the dialog box, click on "Options"
then deselect the "Enable Status Monitor" option (remove check mark)
When the alarm light on the printer blinks and the printer won't do anything not even scan, you can press the reset button (on the printer) for 10 seconds and then, while holding the Reset button down, you simultaneously press the OK button (on the printer) for a few more seconds. For some reason, I sometimes need to do it several times before the alarm light goes off but so far, it always unblocked the printer in the end.
At that point, do the "Enable Status Monitor" as explained above. (put check mark back)
When you need to check the levels, you can either look at the cartridges physically or enable the status monitor (if you are still using 'legal' cartridges in one or more slots).
Google for "Chip resetter for MP530" or go on Ebay for this product.

I have a canon MP530 waste ink pad near full. what should i do?

Press the OK button.
The service call error, indicating the waste ink absorber is full,
is likely to occur soon.
Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing
cannot be done until the waste ink absorber is replaced.

To reset it:
With the machine power turned off, while pressing the Stop/Reset button, press and hold the ON/OFF button. (DO NOT
release the buttons). The COPY button lights in green to indicate that a function is selectable.
2) While holding the ON/OFF button, release the Stop/Reset button. (DO NOT release the ON/OFF button.)
3) While holding the ON/OFF button, press the Stop/Reset button 2 times, and then release both the ON/OFF and Stop/Reset
buttons. (Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the Alarm LED and COPY button light alternately, Alarm in orange
and COPY in green, starting with Alarm LED.) "CANON Idle" is displayed on the LCD.
4) When the COPY button lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the function
listed in the table below. (Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the Alarm LED and COPY button light alternately,
Alarm in orange and COPY in green, starting with Alarm LED.)

4 times - Waste ink counter
resetting

Hope that helps!

Lost my manual how do I turn off the alarm. If I don't want my alarm set.

Press the SET button to highlight which alarm (1 or 2) when it flashes press the function button up to 4 times to roll through the settings for which alarm you want to go off - IPOD, radio, buzzer. The fourth is OFF and OFF will start flashing. When OFF starts flashing, then stop and do not do anything for 5 seconds. Then the alarm setting of OFF will be intact. If you put on BOTH alarms, you will need to do this with alarm 2 as well. When you get back to the time if you have done it right, no alarm mode will be showing.
