We cannot find the mode to change back the picture to fit the screen. we can't see details around the outside of the picture. our son was playing with the remote and obviously pressed some buttons that changed the picture. please help!
Look on your remote for a button labeled "Zoom" or "Aspect". Pressing this should take you through several picture sizing options on your television. If your remote does not have these buttons (check the sides, also) then you will need to look for these options under your TV setup menu.

In order for you to change the screen size on your Westington TV you have to press on Format on your remote (it is the button between the volume and the channel, right under the input button). As you press on it, it will change the display. From
Standard: Picture is displayed in its original size.
Fill: Picture is displayed to cover the entire screen.
Overscan: Picture is scaled down to fit the display area.
1:1 Mode: Matches the incoming resolution exactly to the pixels without any scaling.
It's probably an issue of the "Aspect" or the "Screen Mode" you're in. I'm no TV repair expert, but if you look in your Main Menu for "Screen Mode" or even your remote might have a button labeled "Asp" or "Aspect" or "Mode"....or even "Wide" (which when pressed repeatedly will cycle through the most common 4 screen modes = Wide, Screen Fit, Zoom, 4:3.) The last one refers to the ratio aspect, but depending on your TV, they could be named differently. Given your description, it seems you're in "Zoom" mode, since it's cutting off the edges of the picture. Put it on a station like CNN, which has a streaming ticker at the bottom and cycle through the options you have until you find the one you prefer. (Note: you should also be able to set this in your Main Menu somewhere as your preferred view, but some shows and movies might come through as full screen or 'Letterbox' regardless of your preference. One final observation I've found on several units is that the remote button that's in the bottom right-hand corner (which may not be labeled as such) is the default location for your aspect selections. Push it and see what happens. Good luck!
Sounds like your cable box is zoomed in, I run into this a lot when running service calls. On most cable provider's remotes there is an 'aspect' button next to or around the '0'. Try that and see if it helps you out at all :)
You will need to hit the aspect button using your remote. The unit sound like it is in Cinema Mode. You will need to change it to Regular. See the link below for the download of the manual. It describes this in more detail.
