I'm having the same problem, except it is intermittent, which makes it even more frustrating to resolve.

Hi !

Make sure the Firefox is not configured to use any proxy address.

Try the following steps :

1. Connectthe cable from your modem into the Internet port of the Linksys router.

2. Reset the router with the reset button for 30 seconds when the router is ON.

3. Turn the router and the modem OFF.

4. Turn the Modem On first, wait for 10 seconds and than the router.

5. Your Internet should work from the computers connectedto the router.

6. If not open the setup page of the router by typing 192.168.1.1 in and browser, the default password is admin.

7. In the setup page, below setup tab, the 3rd subtab is MAC Address Clone, Click on that and click Enable and click Clone the MAC Address.

8. Repeat Steps 3 and 4.

Hello, I have a Linksys Router model No. WRT 160N and have problems with the wireless signal. Doesn't appear the wireless symbol ON and I have connected already the modem cable. The modem is OK cuz I can...

* NOTE: If you tried to set-up the WRT-160N Router previously, but failed, with the Router ON, press the "Reset" button on the back panel and hold it down for 10 seconds, then release. This will reset the Router to factory settings and erase all previous data.
Then do this
1. Hook up the Linksys WRT-160N Router to the modem(cable, DSL or satelitte)
2. Hook up the Linksys WRT-160N Router to your computer via a LAN cable with the LAN cable in Port #1 on the Linksys WRT-160N Router.
3. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your web browser.
4. Log-on to the Linksys WRT-160N Router with these log-on credentials:
Username: linksys (lower-case)
Password: admin (lower-case)
5. Click on the "Clone PC MAC Address" tab.
6. Click the "Clone PC MAC Address" button.
7. Click "Save", click "Continue".
8. Click the "Wireless Security" tab.
9. Choose "WPA2 Personal - TKIP/AES" for encrypted security.
10. Enter encryption password (passphrase).
11. Click "Save", click "Continue".
12. Exit the web browser.
13. Disconnect the LAN cable from the computer and Port #1 on the Linksys WRT-160N Router.
In about 5 seconds, your wireless connection should be up and running.

Hello, I just installed a new router, and it all

verify your internet modem it connected to the WAN port on your WRT160N, login to the WRT160N and go to the "status" tab and see what your internet status is. You should see a page similar to this:

Verify your router has an Internet IP address. If it does not, then you haven't finished configuring your router. If it does have an IP address, then turn off your firewall and see if you can get connected that way.

Linksys router wrt160n unable to be detectd

If that is the case you must do a hard reset first. Hold the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Make sure your computer is connected to port 1 and your modem is connected to internet port of the router. Try to set it up again.

Linksys router 160N will not work.

You probably have encryption turned on in the router, as you should... But your wireless NIC in your laptop may have the wrong settings for encryption set... Compare the two and change your NIC to match that of your router... You may have to know the passphase or password depending on your level of encryption... If by entering a valid IP by hand and it still did not work, may mean that your DNS server IP address(es) werent set correctly, you should use the router's IP address as your default gateway and primary DNS server IP address, since most likely your router is connected directly to your ISP modem... Hope this helps!!

Can't find my wireless network with my desktop

open internet explorer or firefox and in the address bar enter

192.168.1.1 and press enter

then it will prompt you for a username and password

ignore the username field and enter the password as admin and click on ok or press enter.

This should take you to the configuration page.

go to the linksys site for your router here

Click on user guide - you will need adobe reader to open this so if you dont have adobe reader then you will need to install it.

Once installed you should be able to open the user guide which will walk you through how to configure the router with regards to wireless etc.
