4gb sandisk cruzer overheat-no light and

The falsh drive was working just until 2 hours ago. If felt very hot so I removed it. Now that it has cool down, I plugged it to the usb port-no light, computer does not recognize. How can I recover my files if it's dead? I am a teacher and all my files, etc. are save on this flash drive.

I was trying to use my flash drive on an older pc i just reinstalled windows xp on. It lit up but never was detected. I removed it to try another usb slot and it was really hot. I tried another slot, but it didnt work. Also tried it in my laptop (that i use it in every day). No luck there either. Luckily I had backed it up on the laptp a few weeks earlier, so i didnt lose much data.

Okay. Try putting it in on the back of your computer and tell me if it lights up at all, even if it flashes once.

SOURCE: Computer no longer recognizes sandisk when inserted into USB port

If the Cruzer's light doesn't even turn on, then the USB port or the device must be damaged. Have you tried it on another computer ? If so, and it didn't work then it's the device's problem.

The filesystem appears to be corrupted. Try right-clicking the drive's icon, going to Properties, Tools and Check Disk. If that doesn't help the partition that holds the data may be unreadable, and if that happens try asking a data recovery service if the data is important.

REMOVER SD CARD

There isn't a memory card in the Cruzer. It contains a memory chip similar to what's inside a SD card. Even if you managed to extract the chip without damaging it, you'd need a different controller.

San disk cruzer overheats and comouter will not recognize need to recover files

Try removing the drive from the casing and after you insert the device into your PC try spraying it with a component cooling spray designed for troubleshooting overheating issues at the component level.

In a pinch you can flip a can of compressed air upside down and spray it with the liquid to reduce the operating temperature temporarily. This may work just long enough to save your data.

If all else fails you can try sending it to a data recovery expert. Email me directly and I can provide you with a recommended expert that I use myself for our corporate data recovery.

Sandisk crezer 4GB micro wont work

Try this,
Note:I assume you are on win XP.

Right click on my  computer and click manage.
Now on left side please select Device manager and look on the right side if you have any device that says "Unknow Device" or any device that is showing an Exclaimation Mark. If any of this exists then right click on that and uninstall. After this unplug your Flash drive and restart your computer and try inserting flash drive if it works or not.
If not, again go to device manager and expand an option that says "Disc Drives". Please check if it shows anything related to your Cruzer Flash Drive. If it's there, then go to Disc Management that will be there on left side of this same window. There, you need to look for your Removable disc and right click on it and click change drive letter. Now choose a different drive letter preferable one of the last alphabets like Z. After this click OK and now try going to my computer to check if it appears or not.
Moreover, if none of these solutions work please get back to me with some more info like if you have U3  on your Cruzer that comes preinstalled on your flash drive and the version of your OS.
