Question about Panasonic KX-TGA101S Cordless Handset

No KX-TGA101S communication with KX-TG1033S

I purchase two KX-TGA101S hand units to add to my KX-TG1033S system. However, neither communicate with the base station. My present system works great for all three hand unit. The new ones just prompt me to move closer to the base.

Is there a security key code that needs to be set to enable these hand units to also communitate with the base station. I find no such switch settings or software settings to do such. It would seem logical to have such since I would not want my neighbor to use a like unit and connect to my system. I can not locate my origional manual and have none provided with the ones just purchased.

Please advise.

The additional handsets must be registered to the base unit. Here are the instructions from the manual:
HANDSET
1. [menu}
2. "handset settings" - OK
3. "Registration" - OK
4 "HS registration" - OK
BASE UNIT
Press and hold [LOCATOR] until the registration tone sounds.
-if all registered handsets start ringing, press {LOCATOR] to stop, then repeat this step.
-after the base unit beeps, the rest of the procedure must be completed within 1 minute and 30 seconds.
HANDSET
Press [OK], then wait until a beep sounds and Y stops flashing.

This is the first time attempting to use FixYa and not very impressed. My question date was change to appear as a recent question, today rather than yesterday. The question should have been very easy to address for a technical person with knowledge of wireless phones.

However, I receive one offer to help from a group of Elite Experts if I pay in advance for them to research the problem. I finally found the solution from Panasonic web site. I just had to learn how to search for the required info.

Need to change phone back to tone dialing

Here's what the manual says: Changing the Dial Mode (Tone or Pulse Dialing) (HS1 only) Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most phone networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, follow the steps below to modify your phone?s settings: With the phone in standby, press and hold [cid/menu]. Press [vol/ / ] to move the pointer to select DIAL. Press [select/channel] to set the phone to pulse dialing. Press [end]. Return the handset to the base. The handset communicates the new setting to the base, and the base activates the setting on any other handsets. Hope this helps out. K

How do you clear the display (missed calls)

Finally figure this out after days of searching. You have to use the menu to navigate to "View Caller ID" and go through all the missed calls or press Clear (Mute) to just erase them.

Callers cannot hear me with one handset

Try them in intercom mode. If the flaky unit still does not work, the something along the microphone circuitry is likely dead. If its in warranty, get a replacement from the store or manufacturer.

Remote access

I have a very similar Panasonic phone, but I don't use the remote feature. In the past I had a similiar phone where I just dialed the phone number and entered a three digit code that I assigned and was able to listen to the messages. Here is a link to the owner's manual. Look on page 29-30.
