Thank you for your response I will check these and see if it is the problem.

Thanks for the details, I inspected the servo motor it is fine, took off the servo motor and further inspection showed the sleeve where the key engages is stripped made of plastic. Went to the dealer, no longer under warranty. Ford parts wants $600 for the whole core assembly cannot just replace the broken part! and $800 for installation alone. My fix is to use epoxy glue I will let you know if it works.

Either your heater conrol head with the recirc button is bad, or the motor that opens and closes the inside/outside air door.

  • gerry bissi Feb 26, 2009

If you can look under the dash on the passenger side, you will see a rectangular opening on the plenum (black plastic case). That is the recirc air intake. Press the recirc button and see if the door opens and closes. Or watch to see if the servo motor operates.

This should be covered under your 36/36 warranty. Are you over it?

    Air Inlet Blend Door Actuator

    Removal

Open and unhook the glove compartment.

NOTE: The servo motor is hard to access.
Remove the air recirculation flap servo motor.

            Disconnect the plugs.

            Remove the three screws.

    Installation

NOTE: The servo motor is keyed onto a shaft. For this reason, the air recirculation flap may have to be pushed into the correct position with the fingertips.
Refit the components in reverse order.

Check the operation of the air recirculation flap.

How to replace an air inlet actuator on 2007 Pontiac Vibe 1.8 Liter Engine

Recirculation Control The recirculation control determines the air intake through the recirculation actuator. When the recirculation switch is pressed, a signal is sent from the switch to the recirculation actuator through the recirculation signal circuit. When the actuator receives the signal, the actuator moves into the recirculation mode. This circulates air from inside the vehicle instead of fresh air from the outside. Recirculation is available in any mode and can be selected with the blower motor in either the ON or OFF position.
Air Inlet Valve Actuator Replacement
Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the Instrument Panel (IP) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
remove the glove box
Remove the connector (2). Remove the two screws (1) and the air inlet actuator (3) from the HVAC module.
tip

Toyota Air Conditioners

This tip pertains to maximizing the cooling efficiency from your Toyota's Air Conditioning system.

(The info that follows is for vehicles that are not equipped with "Auto" AC.)

On really warm days, nothing is better than getting in a hot vehicle, and turning on the AC for a nice comfortable driving experience.

In our service facility, we continually see customers who are not totally satisfied with their AC output. Hopefully, this tip will address those issues, and just might be useful to you.

The number one reason for poor cooling with the AC on, is neglecting to select the "Recirculate" function on the heater/AC control panel.

What is Recirculate?
That mode is where the AC system 'recirculates' the air contained in the car, thru the AC box, over and over, until the desired temperature is reached. The Recirculate button, knob, lever or slide is easily identified by seeing a picture of a little car, with an arrow doing a 'U-Turn" inside the car. This is the opposite of the "Fresh" mode, which is an arrow going 'straight through' the little car icon.

If you are using the "Fresh" mode, you are actually admitting ambient air into the car. Ambient air is much warmer, and makes the AC work harder, and you will see a 10 degree rise in the air temperature from the dash vents. Also, some vehicles admit the 'Fresh' air from under the hood, so, leaving the 'Fresh' mode selected could actually draw in the much hotter underhood air into the AC system.

So, what to do? Anytime you use the AC, please verify that the Recirculate function has been selected. As stated above, this uses the air in the car over and over, and your cooling efficiency will be 10 degrees colder. You can easily check and verify this with an 'instant-read' thermometer. Put the thermometer in the center dash vent, start up the car, turn on the AC, select Recirculate, and watch the temperature drop. It should stop dropping around 34-36 degrees F (depending on humidity, sun load, and a few other things). Now, when the temperature is as low as it will reach, turn off the Recirculate device. You will see the temperature actually rise, maybe 10-12 degrees.

Some additional info: As long as the car is in Recirculate mode, the AC compressor will eventually turn off, when the interior makes the selected temperature. This saves you gas. If you run the AC with the fresh mode selected, the AC compressor runs all of the time. This wastes gas, and costs you more money.

The best way I can easily sum up Fresh versus Recirculate is this:

Running the car with 'Fresh' selected is like running your refrigerator with the door open. It works, but it does not work good. Choosing 'Recirculate' is like running the fridge with the door closed.
If this tip helps you, please leave a positive helpful rating. Thanks!

Inside cab blows out hot air controls are off but air still comes out

OUTSIDE AIR: Press this button to direct the system to use outside air.
Pressing the OUTSIDE AIR button will cancel the RECIRCULATION button.

RECIRCULATION: Press this button to limit the amount of outside air entering your vehicle.
This is helpful when you are trying to limit odors entering your vehicle or attempting to quickly cool down the interior. Pressing RECIRCULATION will recirculate air continuously.

RECIRCULATION is used when the fan control is OFF to limit odors, outside air and dust from entering your vehicle. All button lights will go off. The last setting selected will activate when the blower is turned back on.
Pressing the RECIRCULATION button will cancel the OUTSIDE AIR button. To return to normal operation and to prevent stale air, be sure to return the OUTSIDE AIR.

Between HEATER and BLEND mode, outside air is forced to reduce window fogging. If the RECIRCULATION button is pressed, the LED indicator will flash three times indicating that forced outside air is activated and RECIRCULATION is not available.

I think what your experiencing is normal. If you want to keep cold air form coming into the cabin, press the recirc button.

I hope this helped, icon_e_biggrin.gif

My 2001 ford focus ac light is blinking but hot air is coming out.

Could mean a stuck button? Try disconnecting your battery (remember your radio code) then work the buttons. All may return when reconnecting? If not have the air-conditioning system checked. :)

I have a 2009 Altima. When I push the AC recirculating button The air pressure doesn't seem to change . On my other vehicles that are not Nissans the air pressure in the car increases. Is this normal for...

When compared to domestic cars (Ford, Chevy, etc) most foreign cars have a recirc button. That button is (as compared to domestic cars) the MAX A/C. You state that the air pressure is not increasing when button is pushed. You are correct in assuming that the button is not working.
